To add some more thought to the pile:
All GoG games are distributed without any attached DRM - the same can't be said for other services that offer the same games (sometimes for cheaper). Publishers have to have a reason to let GoG sell their games - and the multi-tier pricing points probably help GoG a bit (and limit them to who will give them games too I believe).
Its a little bit of a trade off - games at 9.99 that some people thing should be lower... but no DRM.
I think that would just reduce the number of titles in the catalog.
I also felt that some games are overpriced at $10, like HOMM1, for instance. But if nobody buys them the publisher will probably lower the price. After all, they just want to make money.
I have to say that some games are overpriced compared to others, but this is clearly set by publisher as Ubisoft are the worst offenders.
HoMM1, whilst a great game, is absolutely not worth $9.99 with no extras. Especially when compared to the entire M&M collection (six games), with extras, for the same price.
If you don't think a game is worth the 9.99 price tag (or the 5.99 one for that matter), either don't buy the game or keep an eye on it to see if it goes on sale for up to 50% or so off.
I tend to agree about some games being overpriced, but i doubt there's much anyone can do about it. One of the problems is that there seems to be little consistency.
But, as others have said, i vote with my wallet. I want Unreal, Ghost Recon and a couple of other 9.99 games, but i'm not buying them because they're overpriced (for me). On the other hand I've bought a number of 5.99 games.
Hopefully a few of the overpriced games will get a price reduction in the future... or a beter sale than the 2 mentioned above got over xmas.
I'd take a 7.99 price point.

Which is why I got the whole M&M shebang when it was "up to 50%" off. And M&M1 for a friend when it was $5.99 the first week or so.
Actually I think that an additional $7.99 price point would be of use to those publishers that weren't happy with $5.99 but for whom $9.99 seems too steep. I also think that a price point that's lower still would be nice too, but I doubt that will happen.
Removing price points isn't going to happen. If it did, publishers would be up in arms.
Compared to other sites, I think the prices are really fair. Sure, a few of the $10 games should be 5.99 (HOM being one game for instance), but there are others like the fallout series for example that are worth way more than the $5.99 price point.

JacobNZ: Nice, oblivously you do not know how to have a civilised discussion. Yes I do know that GOG probally will not listen to this, but that does not mean we cannot discuss it.
Due to GOGs size I doubt they have board members nor set the price of their games(developers do).

You really need to stop saying obliviously and start saying obviously.
It's basically like a can of worms - you can either replace it with a bigger one or leave it alone.
You can't simply remove things if you don't offer anything in return. IMO - adding additional price-points is the way to go, both in the middle (the legendary $7.99), perhaps even lower ($3.99) and - when the time to to acquire even newer games comes - higher ($12.99, $15.99 $19.99, $25.99).
At this point, however, the $9.99 limit saves us quite nicely from games being ridiculously overpriced, so I'd only vote for adding $7.99 (and, perhaps, $3.99 if there are people ready to sell games this low).
In general I refuse to pay over $19,99 for a new game - unless I feel it will be epic - DAO for example. However that is the first game I have purchased on release in 3 or 4 years. I am happy to wait for the price to drop. Therefore a cap on the games here of $9.99 is fine but I mostly hit the $5.99 or sale items.

Don't worry Stonebro, I am with you on this.
Looking over the game catalogue, it doesn't seem like the $9.99 price point is actually associated with higher quality. There are a few $9.99 games that I think deserve that price tag: Beyond Good & Evil and Psychonauts come to mind. Most of the best games on the site are priced at $5.99 though, but we aren't complaining about those being underpriced, right?
I think it's a bit odd to actually be complaining about a game costing a whopping $9.99. Anyway, as others have said, if you don't agree with the game price, DON'T BUY IT. Money (and lack of spending of it) talks a lot more loudly than complaining on a forum.
