Unite a quarrelling kingdom and save a delicate peace.

Save a fragile peace in the open-world RPG Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition, available now on GOG.com for just $9.99.

It's been two years since the events from [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/gothic_3]Gothic 3. You awaken from a coma induced by the finale of the first game. In those two years, everything has not gone well. Myrtana is divided into four parts, now ruled by old friends of the nameless hero. Gorn took the paladins’ stronghold Gotha, while Thorus united the orcs and he settled in the castle in Trelis. Commander Lee now rules the capital of Myrtana--Vengard--and the eastern parts of the land. Finally, Inog and Anog jointly administer the territories of Silden and Geldern. The promise of peace and unity that you fought so hard for before you fell asleep has proved an empty one.

You as the nameless hero must reconcile the warring parties and bring peace to the land again. The main area to explore is Myrtana, and since this is a sandbox RPG, you can explore it in any fashion you see fit as you fight to preserve your troubled land. The fighting system has been revamped, the open world lets you play the game how you see fit, and the main story and many sidequests are sure to keep you occupied for hours. This is the Enhanced Edition, which fixes many major bugs, improves the overall gameplay, and even has some improved graphics and effects from the original release.

GOG.com is sporting the Enhanced Edition of Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods made by Trine Games & G3 Community Patch Team. Get it now DRM-Free for just $9.99!
It's not April 1st.
Seriously, $9.99...?

MaceyNeil: too late g.o.g. I already bought the series off gamers gate.
The only interest I have in later games that are widely available outside your service is for the D.R.M. free aspect so you might win me back with G4:Arcania but the rest of the series, simply put 'too late'.
Arcania isn't worth $1. Avoid it like the plague.

Kezardin: If Forsaken Gods is included in the contract, GOG *does* have to take it.
Contracts aren't a one way thing. They're negotiated. If a site is called Good Old Games, they might want to negotiate a contract that don't involves them having to add a Dreadful New Game.

But hey. If we really do get some awesome new releases from Nordic Games/Jowood/Dreamcatcher because of this, then maybe it was worth it. I'm having a hard time finding suitable candidates, though. Silent Storm and Rally Trophy maybe, but the latter is probably not going to happen due to licensing, so...

Fifeldor: Well done for releasing it GOG. The only one which I think is bad is the fast that all of the Gothic games now cost 40$, which is an insane amount considering they're quite old, but other than that, good release. Release as many games as you can. I've gotten tired of people constantly asking for 20+ year old games which have aged fucking terribly and have been technologically and gameplay-wise surpassed, simply because they used to play them when they were kids.
lol wut? you'd rather have some of the most terrible games ever made which you can already get everywhere else instead of all-time classics that have been out of print for a decade or more?

i can tell you won't be happy here.

I prefer having games released without DRM, no matter how old, good or bad they are. Other than that, everyone who wished for the latest "all-time classic", Syndicate, when asked about what makes it such a must-be-here game for GOG, simply replied that they wanted it here for "nostalgia" reasons. So yeah, since nostalgia is the issue, I guess I can sleep sound tonight since I never played Syndicate, nor do I plan to buy it.

As for the "you' won't be happy here", I'm here for a few months longer than you, but I am still enjoying my every second - also, I am not the one crying for GOG's choices and starting melodramas about "where GOG is heading". If they believe Forsaken Gods was worth it, then it was, and if it actually wasn't, they'll understand it by its sales. End of story.

Dude, come on. It's one of the only cyberpunk games out there and on top of that a great tactical action game. The fusion of those two rare genres makes this a classic in many people's eyes.

Also, how did you form such a disapproving opinion of the game never having played it? (At least I assume you haven't since you did not mention it.)
To be fair, the price and nature of Forsaken Gods makes me cringe, but GOG is here to make money. It's up to individuals to build their "ideal" game library from the offerings here. If people buy it, then GOG served its purpose by providing them with a game they wanted. Two Worlds was neither well received nor old, but it released on GOG quite some time ago and gained a small measure of popularity. Nothing wrong with that.
I have no problem with GOG releasing this; it helps complete the series, and people can decide for themselves whether they want it.

That being said, I bought the entire Gothic pack for some ridiculously low price during Gamersgate's holiday sale, so I'm obviously not buying it here (and that's another vote for "GOG needs package pricing").
Yikes, Nordic Games must have really had you guys over a barrel to get you to release this piece of shit.

so what you are saying is that you buy games based on its DRM, not based on its quality? in that case i'd be a lot more discriminating than you as i'd prefer GOOD games to be released DRM-free...

seriously, there are games that we could all do without. and i seriously doubt you'll be among those picking up Forsaken Gods, if you knew anything about the game and its production history...

you are right here. i criticised that when asked what's so great about Syndicate a lot of people simply answer with vaguely-defined nostalgia, instead of giving actual gameplay examples of why it's still worthy to be played today.

you are missing, however, that Syndicate, along with many other games of similar age, have consistently topped the lists of the all-time greatest games. that alone makes it a must for any PC gamer, IMO.

as with literature and film, you won't be taken seriously by enthusiasts unless you know the medium's history, its greatest examples and the way it has developed over the decades. think about it, are you gonna say the same about literature? are you not reading Shakespeare beacuse he uses a language that's outdated? are you not gonna watch The Longest Day because it's technically outdated, being black and white?

yeah, except i'm not the one complaining that a site called Good OLD games is selling just that...

i'm pretty sure GoG staff already know it's not worth it, but since they apparently buy licences in catalogues they just took it along with everything else from Nordic.

Syndicate is 19 years old. it took #1 of the GoG charts within only a couple of days. Ultima 7 is almost 20 years old, yet it's the #3 best-selling RPG on GoG, with most other RPGs in the GoG charts being 10 years old, give or take 2 years. that tells you all you need to know about what sells on GoG and what won't...

Meh. I bought all the Gothic games off Steam during the holiday sales.
This game will very likely not make it in the bestseller list. :)
