Unite a quarrelling kingdom and save a delicate peace.

Save a fragile peace in the open-world RPG Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition, available now on GOG.com for just $9.99.

It's been two years since the events from [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/gothic_3]Gothic 3. You awaken from a coma induced by the finale of the first game. In those two years, everything has not gone well. Myrtana is divided into four parts, now ruled by old friends of the nameless hero. Gorn took the paladins’ stronghold Gotha, while Thorus united the orcs and he settled in the castle in Trelis. Commander Lee now rules the capital of Myrtana--Vengard--and the eastern parts of the land. Finally, Inog and Anog jointly administer the territories of Silden and Geldern. The promise of peace and unity that you fought so hard for before you fell asleep has proved an empty one.

You as the nameless hero must reconcile the warring parties and bring peace to the land again. The main area to explore is Myrtana, and since this is a sandbox RPG, you can explore it in any fashion you see fit as you fight to preserve your troubled land. The fighting system has been revamped, the open world lets you play the game how you see fit, and the main story and many sidequests are sure to keep you occupied for hours. This is the Enhanced Edition, which fixes many major bugs, improves the overall gameplay, and even has some improved graphics and effects from the original release.

GOG.com is sporting the Enhanced Edition of Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods made by Trine Games & G3 Community Patch Team. Get it now DRM-Free for just $9.99!

Fred_DM: but i am intrigued about tomorrow.
Could it be that they are changing their release schedule? Or that they are going to have "crazy" week and release games by the day? Who knows. It should be fun waiting though.
Forsaken Gods is terrible, even with community patches, so don't bother.
Someone's gotta ask: expansion separated from the main game package? This is unseen before here. I normally don't complain of prices here (and even defend any game sold at 9.99 no matter the class), but at 20 bucks it's a different matter entirely. Hard to wishlist.
I wonder if EA expansions will arrive in similar fashion.

TheEnigmaticT: You may ask: but this is madness: a new game on a Monday? There's something cool happening tomorrow. So check back then. ;)
You're finally going to get a hat so large that it destroys us all?
$9.99 is silly for an expansion... then again Silverfall and Earth Awakening were released the same way... stand-alone expansion..

Im a bit miffed but if we see Arcania here (or some other more recent rpg offering) im going to dig in the piggy bank! bring on the RPG's loving it!

ALSO, im 100% behind bundkle pricing... EG Gothics, Aquanox, Baulders gates, Serious Sam, Unreal's, bundle packs would really boost your sales and you could tout cheaper prices then GG and Steam then.. pull more revenue... get the word out though shacknews, destructoid maybe kotaku...

Tizzysawr: So System Shock is being released tomorrow?
Nah!, the System Shock series deserves a huge PR stunt like they did with Baldur's Gate. Maybe they'll kidnap our families or something.

Forsaken Gods? For 9.99?
Err, GOG staff - please check your calendar, it's not April 1.

Seriously - I can't remember a single positive review (or opinion) about this... thing.

SirPrimalform: I think it's a standalone expansion actually. The enhanced edition thing seems to refer to it including authorised fan fixes or something though.

gyokzoli: You think? Anyone can confirm this?
It is definitely a standalone, and one that YOU SHOULD NOT BUY. They took Gothic 3, removed most of the people, removed 2/3 of the map, and added awful voice acting and writing. It is without question the worst thing in the Gothic universe, and that includes Arcania. Arcania, as bland as it was, was much much better.

On the other hand some people seem to be willing to argue that releasing this is on the same level as the "site closed down" stunt.

Also. "G3 Community Patch Team"? G3 as in Gibberlings3? GOG finally released a game so buggy it requires a bundled fan-patch to even work?
"Enhanced edition"

Never in the history of mankind has such an oxymoron been produced.

Re-read previous posts, this is not the first time this has been done. Spellforce 2 has it's expansion as a standalone as well. I believe if you were to check the retail prices on the Gothic 3 with expansion package at other outlets, you'd find it also runs around $20, as is the case with Spellforce 2.

Jagged Alliance comes to mind also.
Just in case anyone is interested. Here's a link to the World of Gothic forum thread about the new Forsaken Gods Content Mod with download links for those that would like to check it out. I haven't tried it so can't say how good it is.

Thanks, but in the meantime I'll be downloading all my GOG games from the GOG server to my hard drive, just in case. :)
