I've been trying all day to download a game I bought here (ut2k4) with the gog downloader, and for the third time now Im getting a stupid error which deletes the file downloaded so far, and thus starting again at 0%. Is anybody else getting this error? It's very annoying having to restart all the time. The download folder is empty again now. Why does GOG require all games to be downloaded with their stupid adobe air download manager? Why can't just be downloaded with any 3rd party download manager? Do they want control over what users use to download the games? I dont see the reasoning..

Who said you needed the GOG Downloader? Just hit up "download with browser", use DownThemAll in Firefox, and you're done.

I've done that, but for some reason, the downloads dont resume. When I tried downloading with opera browser, I pause the downloads, and when trying to resume, they just give an error, or say "download finished" at like 7%.

Use DownThemAll in Firefox. I don't use Opera (not in years, anyway), and Firefox has shitty download managing, so the DTA plugin is free and it lets me pause (sometimes) downloads. It's fast too.

I dont like firefox, it's too bloated. I use opera, love that browser. It's fast, light on resources, and it's pretty cool. It should work with opera's download manager too , shouldnt it?

Well... yeah. It definitely should work. I personally don't like the AIR manager because it's shittier than Stephen Harper's face, so I also use download using browser.

Because of the secure verification system used for GOG downloads you can't pause them and resume after too long a period of time. With a proper download manager you can simply feed in a new source URL.

Opera's download manager doesnt work, it has just cancelled the download.
So is downthemall a proper download manager?

It is, because I used it yesterday to download Gothic 2.

Resume is only with the gog downloader from what I understand. You could use another manager but don't pause it.

I've always downloaded all my games from here directly in Firefox. No pausing, no resuming. Never had a problem with it.

To clarify, only the GOG downloader can automatically resume downloads after some time has elapsed with the download paused or stopped. For all other programs you will need to feed in a new source URL. After that, however, it will pick up where it left off without any progress being lost.

Anyway, been using Firefox for about 4 years, never had a problem.Downloaded around 70 games from GOG using firefox built-in downloader, and NEVER had a problem.

I've had problems with Firefox, so DTA is the only way I get my games downloaded.
