Thought some of you people might be interested in a little Christmas present I found, ResidualVM, which is based the 3D-game equivalent of ScummVM, is now compatible with Grim Fardango (80% compatible, finish-able with a few minor glitches), the famous and strange adventure game.

At the least this now means if/when LucasArts comes here, GOG won't have to worry about the horrible compatibility with modern Windows the game had.

Neat! ;)
thanks bro, i got a old comp that run grimmy preety well but running it on new os will be awesome
Fantastic, just tried it out (I tried it a couple weeks ago, though it didn't work as well as I would have liked), and it ran pretty good. Now I can play the game!
Great news!

And just so people know, there is a website that has custom installers for games like GF and Curse of Monkey Island to play on modern systems. However, the links are broken right now. They show up if you just search "Grim Fandango installer" in Google. It is the Quick Mix n Mojo website where I found these installers a couple years ago.

Here is a PC Gamer article on them.
Good news. Now we only need for the game to be sold.

I'm setting the timer on your cryo-freeze chamber for 40 years. Enough or should I add more time?
Hell yeah....
so does this mean I can get Grim Fandango from the site posted from the op?

No. Residual is just an emulator that lets you run Grim Fandango on a modern OS.

Yes, I suppose you could try finding some old second hand copy on eBay, but it would cost you an arm and a leg.

Or you could just use the usual method.

Hmm due to this post I now have to decide if I play Grim or sell my copy....

That's a nice news, but now that I remember, I have somewhere the CD-ROMs for this game along with the CD-ROM for Full Throttle... but I don't know where (ouch :P). If I found them, maybe I will give it a try.

I never played Grim Fandango because my first computer wasn't able to run it properly, and the next computer I had couldn't be installed or something because of the OS... and that was like 5 or 6 years ago.

I think there is somewhere a non-official installer / launcher for this game. Isn't that better for this game, or does anybody have tried it?

Now I really want to play this game. I totally forgot about it, I should be punished! ^_^

That installer and launcher I was talking about can be found here.
With all the hubbub about some science fiction game no one has ever heard of, I though I'd bump this old topic. So dust off those old boxes and take another stroll through the Land of the Dead .
