ooh! Does anyone have another spare invite? I'd very much like to get one.
Wave seems very useful, especially when you need to work with a group of people at once, like with university stuff.
My gmail username is #####.

Invite sent. :)
Might take a while to get it, thought. Took me 3 days to get my invite.

I still do not understand how Google Wave could be useful to me or the general population. It's some sort of fusion of Sharepoint, IM, and email, right? Collaboration and communication, yadda yadda.
Is it something that becomes more compelling after use? Or would I still remain skeptical after experiencing it? I can't see what it could do to improve the way I communicate with others.
Could someone explain the general usefulness of Wave for users who have little need for document collaboration?
In this stage at least there isn't any usefulness if you have little need for document collaboration.
Well, maybe except playing proper (think pen&paper) RPGs.

Oh I suppose that would work.
I wonder how the administrative aspect of Wave will operate. I believe that Google stated that Wave would be available for on-site/non-Google hosting, like Sharepoint. I've set up and maintained Sharepoint in the past, and it can be troublesome. Wave could become popular for no reason other than ease-of-use within IT departments.
I don't see this thing replacing emails unless you can turn off the ability to actually edit other peoples posts. One of the waves going at the moment is a mess with 2-3 people editing the same bit so you have no idea who said what unless you sit through and watch the replay feature. Nice idea but the wave already has 400 changes so takes forever to watch and the post isn't even that big yet.

Is there no option to lock certain waves against edits, or better yet, make your contributions to any given wave read-only?

Not yet, but I suspect that this will be implemented eventually. It is one of the most requested features.

Ah, alright.
So is all of this done in js or Flash? If js, which browsers seem the most responsive when using Google Wave? I am not a big fan of js as it never feels as responsive or fluid as Silverlight or Flash 9/10, even on Chrome.
Done in JavaScript and working the fastest under Google Chrome.
And proper coded js can be as fluid and responsive as Silverlight and Flash (which I for one hate hate hate).
