kebsis: Well I think the reputation system is so widely regarded as being frivolous that it really has no impact on anyone at this point. Getting rid of it would be fine but I think that they should concentrate on other things if it is a hassle to fix. Of course if it's just a matter of turning off an option I don't know what they're waitng for...

Weclock: getting rid of +1 or -1 on posts is good, but in the instance of helping people (getting +3 reputation points for solving another persons issue), that is good and should stay. :)

Helping people is good, but if you want a medal you should join the Olympics not a gaming forum :-p

I want to see what surprise they're talking about. Don't take that away before anyone has even won it.
I have to say that I agree with the getting points for helping people, it encourages friendliness! And everybody wants to be recognized for their nice actions.

Haha, that's exactly what my sister says whenever I claim to have done something well!

So instead you want to take it away for everyone else? Very selfish IMO Weclock, very selfish.
If you're gonna get rid of it for everyone at the very least reset everyone's help count score to zero then give just one point for every "solved" gift. I mean why get three for helping once when earning one on the forum proper takes several + votes? Not exactly a fair and balanced system

I'm not picky, just keeping the rewards for helping people is a good idea, whether it's Plus 3 or plus 1..
although you have to get over five stars to win the prize, so I think it should be probably like 10 plus! hahaha.
Yeah but three points for every solved problem?

Clagg: Yeah but three points for every solved problem?

like I said, I'm not particular, whether it's 1, 2, 3, or fifty billion, as long as that system is in place where you get some kind of reward for assisting people, one that lets others know that you're a helpful person, then I am satisfied.
it doesn't even have to be rep points, it' could be little stickers, or filling up of a bar, or something like that.
as long as there's a system that rewards the helpful. Many issues on here have been solved by non-gog official tech support, and we need to keep the non-gog tech support around imo. Sure it's trial and error, but it's better than silence.

moonfear: regarding those shelves, will it be posible to link it to my friend so he can see my collection? (or to have it as signature on another forums ;) )

If it'll not possible to show it to ppl they are going to be useless, imho...

Personally, I dislike the idea of forum karma systems in general. (Including any kind of voting-based tags.) I've seen a lot of forums, and I have to say that karma almost always makes things worse in the long run.
Slashdot's comment rating system seems to work pretty well, actually.

Well like I was saying, something that rewards.
I didn't mention anything about detracting, and currently there is no detraction for not having your answer selected.
Is there any new word on when this update will be done? Or are you guys still working late into the night on it?
We'll complete the update soon, we're testing it a bit more.
It's sooner rather than later though :)

By the way, I just accidentally clicked on -1 for one of the posts here (laptop touchpad, damn it). Sorry, didn't mean it. Disappearing buttons might not be such a good idea if the actions they invoke is not reversible.
