It's nice to see a lot of people coming to GOG in response to the Duke 3D giveaway. I'm actually surprised that, upon reading some comment threads on reddit, a decent number of gamers haven't heard about GOG before.

I think it was a good move to start the holiday sale early and do the giveaway before the other major gaming sites start sales next week.

keeveek: ITT we discuss it on the other side of things: "you already have X games from this promo? It doesn't matter, you don't have to buy them all again like everywhere else and you still keep your discount!" And it's not common. I'd say it's even unique.
And we had it in twenty weekend deals before. At least. GOG gives you an incentive to buy more games. It's ok. Sometimes you actually get a game "for free". As in the discount eats up the price of the last game. It's all fine and dandy.

The point is to get you to spend more money. Which isn't a bad thing. This is what a store should aim at. I still don't see why I should be thankful for that.
Again. Not everybody in the world knows that this is how GOG rolls.

Also, I am thankful that if I wanted to buy some games from GOG bundles, I don't have to pay for the entire bundle. Like I don't know, on steam, for example.

It saved me a lot of money. For me, it's the biggest GOG feature of them all. It's worth advertising (or viraling), even on reddit ;P

You have to buy the entire bundle to get the discount. You can't cherry pick yourself the titles for 75%. Like it always was. It's a very basic marketing move to increase revenue. Which is even better for DD, as there are little costs for each sale. This is not a bad thing, because that is GOGs job. But everybody here pretends GOG is doing them a favour. Which is a very unhealthy view on things.

Ok, I don't have to buy it at once

Like yesterday - I owned all Bullfrog games except Populous 1. I could get that for $1.24 . Steal deal, but I resisted :P

F4LL0UT: Again, something's gotta be wrong with you if you're actually sure you will never play all Bullfrog games. That stuff is pure gold, I even enjoyed the heck out of Populous 1 a couple of months ago, despite the fact that I didn't think I'd ever play it again after having played Pop 2.
Madden 2013 might be the best football game ever made but it's still a football game.
That's exactly what I've been always praising in GOG promos. Even if they don't have as deep discounts as some other sites, up until the latest "pay what you want" promo, you don't end up buying same games several times (at least for/from the same service).

And there are no bullshit "freebies" either like the Titan Quest added to the THQ Steam Humble Bundle. Sounded nice... until I realized that if I want the expansion pack (Immortal Throne) too from Steam, I end up paying the same 10€ as for the Gold version (which includes the expansion pack already).

StingingVelvet: Thank you GOG for using marketing tactics to try and get me to buy games I normally wouldn't and will never play.

You guys are so awesome.
But at least they don't try to get you buy the same games several times over several overlapping bundles.

I think it is a great marketing tactic that they don't make you feel like shit afterwards, as if you've been had. Respect for the customer and not treating him like he is stupid is always a great marketing tactic in my books.
