So this weekend I found out through the grapevine that the husband of a friend of mine got a nice big pay rise to MD at a company he has worked for, for the past eight years (it is more of a who you know situation).
Anyway - he went out and bought a new car at £~100,000 and was very happily showing it off to all his nearest and dearest. His wife - my friend - though told him it was a pile of rubbish and how could it be used for their kids, plus she wont drive bla bla bla. So he was forced to take it back and buy something equally stupidly priced, but more "family friendly". Now basicly he is a bit of a laughing stock among both his and her friends (and still wont lend money, or pay for things the effing bleep).

So now to the game, well I want to hear what was the most expensive thing you have bought that either went to waste, or you were forced / cohearced into returning due to a loved one / humiliation. If it broke and you returned it, it does not count, unless this lead to much humiliation.

-Who ever I choose to have been the most wasteful will win a copy of The Binding of Isaac on Steam. I have two spair codes as it was a buy 2 games for £5 back at Christmas, and it was the only game I wanted. so there will be two winners. **
-You can enter as many times as you have been stupid with money.
-I have no age or rep disqualifications.
-I will contact the winners sometime Saturday via PM, and announce the winners here too.
-Until I post to close the game is still on.
-You can enter for others.

Please keep it clean as we are open for all to view.
** I also have a HIB copy but it did not have a soundtrack so I now have 3 copies.

-----------------------------------EDIT-------------------------------------------
This is now closed.
Winners are chosen and I am PMing them now with their codes.

For a moment i thought you were going to gift this, http://www.thefoolandhismoney.com/

Anyway +1.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I've never bought anything too wasteful, but recently I bought some $5 headphones...that totally suck. Guess that's one thing you can't skimp on :(

Count me in! :D
Not in but +1

I'm afraid I never had money to waste in the first place, so nothing to add :(
I think my joystick was my most wasteful purchase. I haven't used it more than twice. Not in but +1
Not in but the most expensive thing I ever bought that went to waste was my last girl friend. She sprung a leak.
Not in, but the most wasteful thing I bought was my GTX670 graphics card last year, nearly 400 euros and so far I have played about 3 games that made use of it. Turns out stupid action adventureshooters with great graphics aren't much fun once you have seen the graphics.
Not in but I will tell you my worst purchase. It was a GPU that cost me 300 bucks (with the total of 1000 tower PC) and it broke in less than 3 months. Now I'm wised up and bought/built my tower PC for just 500-600 bucks.
Not in, but thanks for your generosity, 011284mm!
Not entering either but my most wasteful purchase was probably assassins creed for the xbox 360 when it came out 70 euros
Not in but thanks, 011284mm.

Few years ago my father bought a car he saw on a website online. It was an old, not a classic and ugly. The only trip it had ever taken was to a workshop. It still cost more for repairs! Nobody else but my father ever ride it. Finally we sold it, at a loss of course.

Buying online in my country is not yet popular because of numerous scams. At least one should take a look closely at the item first before deciding to seal the deal, especially items like car. I can't remember the price both the purchase or resale price, but it wasn't cheap and for nothing! I'm sure my father didn't even bargain. I could've bought a high-end gaming PC with the money and it would've cost only a small fraction of that car's price.
I don't remember any specific object, but if you total the money I paid for games I haven't played I'm sure it's quite high on the waste scale.

Thinking further, the used copy of Flash CS3 I bought was a waste, I never used it. The Radeon 5750 I bought was a waste because I won a 5850 a few months later.

Edit: not in.
