robbiemad: the Nuclear exploding cars is explained as in the cars of the future run off miniature fission cells or something along those lines...

I know it is, but noone would drive car that'd explode so easily! Not to mention I have no idea how could inactive fusion cell explode like that...
The repair mechanics are driving me up the wall. I have a las0r pistol, and I have yet to find a second one to repair it with. Sadly, most of my skill points are in energy weapons.

You can always repair it at some city...

Perhaps, but the resulting mini mushroom cloud is pretty cool... :)

I bought science theme but it just put machines, lab equipment everywhere messing up my own decorations. so I reloaded the game and decided not to buy.

Energy weapons are definitely a little more scarce than regular bullet weapons in the wasteland... that said a lot of higher level opponents will carry lazer pistols and rifles, and later bots and enclave guys have plasma rifles. I've seen some gatling laser guns, haven't gotten those yet... anyone know if gatling lasers count as big guns or energy weapons?
Anyway, i've done a balance on small guns and energy weapons, around level 12 I'm ~60% on energy and 80% on small guns and not having any issues beating down enemies (i also have 100% sneak to drop some live frags into enclave pockets... insta kill, its almost too cheap)
Thoroughlly enjoying this game. Upto nearly level 6. Just bough Fallout 1 for the PC off GOG based on my experience with Fallout 3.

Welcome to the Club, Fallout 1 and 2 are very different from Fallout 3, just a warning. I really like 1, 2, but 3 is a different game all together.
EDIT:
I've also bought the Vault Theme, it makes your house look like a Bus station, IMO.

I bought this game not as "another part of Fallout series", but just as an action shooter with rpg elements in a post-nuclear setting. I was quite satisfied with it - up to a point.
SPOILER below, please do not read if you haven't finished the game already:
<spoiler>
Who's fucking idea was the ending? Why the hell can't I send Fawkes into the purifier if he has 100% immunity to radiation? What kind of answer is "I can't go because it's your destiny to die"? God! Either the people writing this game were short on time or just plain STUPID. Nothing prepared me to be this pissed off by finishing a game...

**minor spoiler (almost not really)**
Btw, what's up with the giganto-robot in the BoS headquarters? Is there any kind of quest related to that to get it running again cause I'd loooove to see that thing run around and go crazy and start killing everyone until you have to put it down. I'm assuming not since I nothing popped up in dialogue, but that's DLC gold-mine right there

Just wait - it's running around shooting everything in sight shortly before the game ending.

sweet, thanks... i'm taking my time with the main storyline, i'm currently on a vault hopping tour. Vaults are kinda boring, even the haunted one wasn't that interesting.

My advice is: forget about the main story - it's very short and ends quite abruptly. Do some exploring and invest your time in side quests :)
