cogadh: I don't know how you concluded that LA was the most likely candidate for the end of March announcement, EA is easily far more likely a candidate.
Also, your math is off. Today marks exactly 4 weeks since the initial "Month of Activision" announcement on Jan 28th. I'm sure that more Activision games will be released over the coming weeks, but the "Month of Activision" is still over and done with.
HertogJan: I never concluded anything, others did. Also, your math is off. Today marks exactly 4 weeks since the initial "Month of Activision" announcement on Jan 28th. I'm sure that more Activision games will be released over the coming weeks, but the "Month of Activision" is still over and done with.
I did list the publishers belonging to the top 10 games, 4 in total if I remember correctly.
Atari not being possible due to issues with the D&D license.
That left, Take-Two, EA and LA.
Several others concluded LA was more likely than EA due to LA already having deals with several other digital stores.
I can't find that post unfortunately.
February has 4 weeks, adding the last week of January is 5:
1st week:
January 28: Arcanum, Gabriel Knight
2nd week:
February 4: Vampire The Masquerade: Redemption
3rd week:
February 11: SQ 4-6, Phantasmagoria
4th week:
February 16: Ceasar 3
February 18: Interstate '76
5th week:
February 23: Gabriel Knight 2
February 25: Call to Power 2, KQ 4-6
Meh, I suppose a reasonable argument could be made for almost any publisher at this point (thanks to the arrival of Activision), LA just seems too unlikely to me since they don't seem too friendly towards the whole "DRM free" idea, while EA is one of the companies that has been burned by excessive DRM and has been somewhat softening to its use lately, at least in regards to its older titles.
I'm afraid your math is still wrong, the last week of January was not part of the "Month of Activision", only the last few days of January were, since the original announcement was made on a Thursday. Therefore the "Month of Activision" did not start until that day, making today exactly 4 weeks later (well, technically 4 weeks plus one day):
First week is Jan 28th - Feb 3rd: Arcanum, Gabriel Knight
Second week is Feb 4th - Feb 10th: Vampire Redemption
Third week is Feb 11th - Feb 17th: Space Quest, Phatasmagoria, Caesar 3
Fourth week is Feb 18th - Feb 24th: Interstate 76, Gabriel Knight 2
Today, Feb. 25th, would be the start of week 5, but assuming they don't throw us any surprises this weekend, its just the last day of the "Month of Activision" with the release of Call to Power 2 and the King's quest games.
I have that same wish. I would love to replace my... less than legal copies of both games.
