That's not engine issue, that's design decision in the old DoW - but I'm talking about battles themselves, about soldiers trying to kill each other, about their feel, not about actual gameplay - because the feel is what made most of the old DoW's experience, at least for me
ahh you want the gore bath effects their in there just not as obvious as before

Yes, battles are not realistic like the old game. And also armies are so small. They did a micro game.

How small??
Unit numbers are smaller than the first game and I didn't see larger battles like the first one yet.

Sooo.....less hyperactive micromanaging or what?? I would try the beta out myself but I don't have Soulstorm and the game looks too modern to run on this PC for it to be able to run at anything more than single digit FPS...
Less hyperactive micromanaging? Well, I wouldn't exactly say so, it's just squads have less members (full Space Marines squad with sergant have 4 members and 1 heavy weapon, while in Dawn of War 1 it's, I think, 9 members and 5 heavy weapons), there are less squads on the battlefield as well, but micromanagement of those seems a bit more complicated than micro in DoW.
Hmm, when I think about it, I was disappointed in basebuilding - Relic promised basebuilding in MP, so it would be similar to my beloved DoW MP - in fact, you have HQ and you can place turrets and power plants, that's all basebuilding you're going to get. When I was playing MP, I wanted SP - I think it's obvious SP is what DoW 2 is aimed for

theres a site called can you run it just follow instructions
I've been playing for the past 3 hours.
So far I'm very underwhelmed. It feels like they slapped DOW on COH. It feels really stripped down. No base building, little squad customization, extremely small scale battles, huge emphasis on surprisingly weak hero units, boring maps, GFWL bullshit, etc.
dow2 bata day 2 stories?
me had fun shooting nids lol

I was afraid they were going to do something like that, ever sinse the gameplay video where they have 6 men spend 15 minutes downing a warboss. Still downloading it myself but its fairly large so is taking a while.
Also whats GFWL stand for?
Games For Windows Live
I played it today. Kinda reminded me of warcraft 3 with the hero unit. I kinda feel wird not building a base ;). I also got a message while playing that the other player had his settings too high and was lagging the game. Any one else get this?
