TheJoe: I'd like to be able to get this. It's a shame even the retail version requires Steam.

I don't care if it uses Steam or not. It's the fact that it is also tied to GFW (disgusting) that scares me off.

Create an offline profile and never bother with GFWL again. Job done.

Don't you need it for multiplayer?

Yes but so far GFWL works pretty well with DOW2. Certainly better than Gamespy anyway. If you really, really cannot stand to even look at GFWL then there are work arounds using things like Hamachi.
GFWL is great from my experience so far. It should have been tied to that and NOT steam
No it shouldn't have been "tied" to anything at all apart from (maybe) a disc check.
Lawwlllllllz, this is a funny forum.

GFWL inopportune forced updates don't always work out so well. They've even cost me my first account by performing the sodding update as I was signing up.

I'd rather use Steam than dig out the disc every time I want to play a game. Then again, at least with a disc check there are nodvd patches...

i personally prefer steam to GFWL thou the match making is good but i see steam of as an advantage rather than a disadvantage
To each their own I guess. I was rather hoping that GFWL would drag the PC gaming market kicking and screaming into a degree of standardisation. Seems that they basically designed it and then ignored it for too long though, should have happened back in the 98 or early XP days

That's Games for Windows. The GFWL client isn't required for a game to qualify for the GFW standard. I agree that the standard should have been introduced a long time ago. But that doesn't change the fact that the GFWL client is still pretty crap.
GFWL was supposed to be part of GFW (as far as I remember anyway). The client isn't really that bad, its also not really that GOOD which is a problem.
I'd say TheJoe hijacked the thread masterfully :)
As far as my opinion on GFWL interests anyone, they will not see a single dime of mine as long as I have to masquerade as an american to access multiplayer.
Their policy on countries supported and not causes me to foam at the mouth. A bit, but visibly :)
Back to the topic - I REALLY hope the add-on will lift the title to the height of CoH gameplay. I SO do.
And... yeah... absolving heretics is far more fulfilling than threshing through a horde of aliens.
THIS is what I've been waiting for before buying DoW 2. I love me some Chaos!
YES!
Also, I badly want an Ork campaign. BADLY.
Dakka dakka dakka.
