It does not do sufficient damage to crush zombie's brain.

Anyone have a copy of The Zombie Survival Guide handy? I seem to recall the crossbow was recommended due to its silence, precision, and the fact that you could reuse the ammo (or even make more yourself, if you have the necessary materials and tools). As far as damage, that likely depends on the type of bolt. Something with a wide, sharp head would probably work well.

Given that crossbows were regularly used in ye olden times for us to kill one another (really talking europeans here I guess), I would imagine smashing through a decomposing zombie head would be a simple enough task.

I need to buy that book... and then stock up on some cross bow ammo.
