Today I had to get a blood test done and it seems like I got a fairly green person hacking at my arm.

Unfortunately, my veins are hard to find at the best of times with someone fairly decent, let alone someone new with minimal experience.

She jabbed me twice with no luck and then got someone more experience to give it a try, she seemed very displeased I hadn't drank much water up until then... up until then I didn't know I'd be getting blood taken..

My arm has been aching ever since, about a million times worse than the actual need, and it's starting to form a nice bruise. Anyone else had similar experiences?
its worse when they miss the vein and try to go in from the side
maybe you got scared so your veins got smaller

I'm not even sure what that involves..

The worst thing today was the prodding around with the needle under my skin.

lol I would say yes but I only started getting nervous when she couldn't find the vein and started freaking out.
As a cancer survivor I've lost count of the times finding a vein has become a nightmare. Looking back on it everyone of them is fucking hilarious but they didn't really seem that way at the time. :P
Drink some beer. That's always a good solution, no matter the problem .
If someone gets bit in half by a shark Licurg's solution is, "Drink some beer".
Every time I have blood taken they always exclaim, "ooooh, you have nice big veins!". So, no, repeated jabbing is only something I read on the internet :P

+1

also, it's rather fun when the nurse finds and penetrates the vain, but needs to fill two or more containers so between the switching your blood just spills out :D

Are you implying that would be the wrong thing to do ?
Anyone ever had them go in through the neck? It actually isn't painful but just having someone poking around your neck is beyond disconcerting. The foot on the other hand, nothing visually offensive but it hurts like hell.

Not even sure how that happens.. seems impossible from the tests I had.

easy, once the needle is in your vain, the nurse disconnects the syringe and connects a vial to catch blood sample in... if she's clumsy and needs to fill another vial after the first one, the blood squirts out for a second :D
