I learned how to lie effectively while working as a mechanic. The reason for the little lie in the business is to cover up for any delays because some cars are old and have rusted parts that break and take forever to extract or the parts houses got the wrong part or whatever. And sometimes the damned part you're installing will not cooperate, thus delaying the repair. I don't like lying but I sometimes had to in order to keep people off my back so I could get the job done. Let me tell you right now, nothing slows a car repair more than some customer being up the mechanic's ass.
