Couple of games I wouldn't mind picking up, except well - Its US only, just like their digital music download service. This makes it automatically stupid.

stonebro: It's not something that will hook experienced gamers in, it's probably just there for non-gaming people to make impulsive purchases because something "looks fun".

Oh god, the old hardcore vs casual gamer crap, huh? A game is a game. If you like it, you like it regardless of however you want to classify the game or the person playing it. Now, I would certainly consider myself and "experienced" gamer in that I've been playing games since long before even 8-bit computing was popular and yes, I even enjoy some of those games -- they are in fact a rather nice reminder of how simple and effective games used to be.
But I couldn't care less for Amazon's digital distribution simply because they would rather regionally restrict it when all of those games are sold globally from other sources. And at comparable prices. Amazon's loss, of course.
My guess is that they have the region selling because of the publishers, I mean, why would Amazon want to limit themselves and make less money, I feel like the anger should be directed towards the publishers, not Amazon. Unless I am stupid and/or wrong here, in that case just go ahead in hating Amazon, and me.

Has nothing to do with casual vs. hardcore. And I'm not saying no "experienced" gamers will ever buy a puzzle game from Amazon.
But I'm pretty confident it's a losing endeavour if they try to target today's archetypical gamers. The competition for such gamers on digital downloads is already palpable, and will probably just increase in the future. Unless Amazon adds some killer titles to their portfolio, their games will go largely untouched by the gaming population at large, no matter how casual or hardcore they are.

My apologies then. I'm just used to hearing that as the reason for hate towards such games. For the record, I play any game I like. Be it an FPS or something like 4 Elements. A games a game and I'm getting tired of people labeling something as crap simply because they have no interest in it. Sure, there are some real steaming piles of crap in "casual" games too (such as The Broken Clues), but there are also titles that can give the latest greatest FPS a run for its money too.
Now as far as Amazon are concerned, they've already lost. They lost the moment they decided regional restrictions was the way to go.

Oh, and I don't buy that reason either, seeing as the same publishers offer up their games region free on other services such as BigFish games, Spintop games and all the other such portals.

Checked out a few titles I've seen around the web or know of. I may not personally be interested, but I know quite a few people who live for these casual games. Yes, the older grandpa/ma type.

My mother plays games more than I do and a lot of them are those flash games from pogo and stuff. Don't discount the market.
In 20 years stay at home mothers will be the #1 consumers of video games...
...or maybe not.
Ooh, Praise Hero?
Would that be the game that's taking the Vatican by storm?
