DOSBox is one of the best things to hit the internet since... uh... the internet itself.
The team behind dosbox deserve the best. Thank you !
Outstanding work, all. DOSBox is amazing! It brings back all the best of DOS gaming without bring along all the worst of DOS gaming to go with it. I'm grateful to never have to configure a memory manager for expanded/extended memory again.
I'm floored at how solid DOSBox is. I've never seen a game complain in DOSBox. Plus all the great features like screenshots, recording movies, scaled graphics ... what an amazing donation to the gaming world.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Cheers for DOSbox! I'm glad future generations will not miss out on older titles.
Thanks for a great interview, Qbix, and GOG. It's very interesting to read.
DOSBox is a wonderful programme. It lets me play all the classic games that I love - Return Of The Phantom, Shannara, Kingdom O Magic etc. And from GOG, the Tex Murphy games, and Teen Agent.
As PimPamPat said... DOSBox is one of the best things to hit the internet.
Where would we be without DOSBox?

Qbix: Great to see it online!
For the people who are wondering which games on GOG.com use DOSBox
check this list

Qbix: How are you guys doing regarding donations? Is it pretty steady or just around the time you release a new version?
DOSBox is truly a fantastic application. Thanks so much!
While both DOSBox and GOG are totally awesome, the combination does puzzle me a bit.
We don't need to pay GOG to provide us with a free program after all.
I just wish there was a better method of making games compatible with recent OS.

DOSBox provides a method of running the older games, and GOG not only tests the compatibility, but also does the deal making with rights holders in order to sell the games here.
If you didn't have GOG, you would have to find someone else that fill that role and I'd bet finding someone to do it as well wouldn't happen anytime soon.
Don't forget you have the download when you want service that comes with GOG purchased games as well. While I have all my games archived, it's pretty awesome to be able to download my games and play no matter where I'm at. :)
I love dosbox. Only thing that is better is source ports and those don't cover so many games.

Most of us do. If the source code were available for the majority of those games then the community could fix most, if not all of the limitations that keep older games from running on the latest systems.
Bravo DOSBox ! Bravo GOG !
Thank you GOG for bringing this interview to us.
Thank you DOSbox for bringing me hours of joy.
Those stubborn games from the early to mid nineties, made when DOS architecture was badly showing its age but before Windows really took hold as the new platform of choice, have always been a pain to get running. They utterly hate modern systems, but they weren't very friendly back then, either.
I was just thinking about how Dosbox actually makes it worlds easier to set up and run these games on modern systems than it was to run them when they first came out. No more keeping multiple boot disks with slightly different memory configurations, no more taping my sound card I/O specs to the side of my case.
Congratulations on an exceptional accomplishment.
