The multiplayer (one of the finest parts of the game) is dead unless you play cross-platform on the Colonies version (which isn't on Steam or 5 dollars).
I'd say go for it anyways, 5 dollars is an excellent asking price for a game of this quality.

Syrion: Of course, if where you live the taxes are significantly lower I can understand your disliking it.

I live in Denmark where the taxes are generally some of highest in Europe, but even with the included VAT's in the new prices, it's still a rip-off since most games now cost up to 40% more.

Well, I bought it for £3.65. Great value for a reasonably fun game. The story is absolutely appalling though - normally I sit through the cut-scenes regardless how crap, these ones I just couldn't stomach.

I watched 'em for the girl with a massive amount of cleavage.
I played the demo and liked it. I know it got lots of bad reviews but for $5 I'll give it a shot.
Heck, I spent $5 to see "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" this weekend--which was the worst film I've seen in a long time--so I'm game.

I'll just go ahead and buy 10 copies.
$5 for a game that manages to even slow recommended spec systems to a crawl?
I'll just play it on a 360.
My 4-year old computer runs it just fine on a mix of high and medium settings. You also have to consider that there may have been numerous drivers and patches since it came out in 2007 I think it was.

RSHabroptilus: Why do people always ask if a Steam game has SecuROM, and then spend 20 posts trying to figure it out?
It says on the store page whether it has third-party DRM or not.

Like bansama said, it doesn't always list the details, plus on at least one occasion, the presence of SecuROM was only added to the game details after someone discovered it and started making a stink about it. Basically it is a trust thing; we'll use Steam, but we don't necessarily trust Steam until we have verified the facts.

Guess you learn something new every day.

No issues with it here, maybe your system isn't up to snuff.

Yeah, I bought it this afternoon, played it, and couldn't help wondering how that girl keeps warm with that gap in her suit
besides, I can't even move my eyes from that little triangle. It really helps dealing with the shitty story! :-D

I fully know why it does it - it's the motion blur. Turning that off will significantly increase performance.
I just think the game is another terrible PC port, and while I find Lost Planet to be entertaining enough, I just don't think I can play it for more than thirty minutes without getting really bored.
Also: The fact that it crawls on my 'recommended' spec system because of motion blur, which I think is pretty lame in and of itself.
After seeing all my friends pick it up, I broke down and purchased it.
Really don't think it looks too good...
Now boosts my amount of Steam games to 85. I feel terrible.
I ended up buying it, but I don't know if to try it out now before going to sleep or just watching an episode of The Critic and calling it a day. Not getting any sleep last night and having to get up early this morning to go in a freaking pond when it's 30 degrees fahrenheit is quite tiring.
