UFO: Aftermath and UFO: Aftershock set to invade the classic catalogue at GOG.com.
Once again we're proud to announce that we've signed an agreement to bring more Good Old Games to GOG.com's extensive catalogue. The deal with [url=http://www.gog.com/en/search/sort/publisher/1c%20publishing]1C Company brings two parts of the sci-fi strategy series, UFO, with the first installment, UFO: Aftermath, now available at GOG.com for only $5.99, while UFO: Aftershock will be available soon for $9.99. The UFO series is a mix of real-time strategy and turn-based squad combat with RPG elements that should appeal to a huge group of fans of good, old games!
Already have these, but 1C is a potential treasure-trove.
This just makes me want X-COM on GOG even more. Get to it!
I already have the 3 games in the UFO series (Aftermath, Aftershock and Afterlight), but I'm glad to see 1C here at GOG as well - lots of great games from them!

Yep, yep, X-COM would be very cool. Afterlight would be nice as well.
Don't forget that 1C developed Silent Storm. That's a game I'd love to see on GOG.
1C being on GOG could be interesting. Although I'm not sure about the UFO games. I only ever really played X-Com Apocalypse back when it was first released and can't seem to get back into playing that anymore. How different to X-COM are these games?
This sure brings back memories. Remember playing the first UFO's to death..now it seems I may get the chance again :D
Damn, having read the newsletter title I also thought for a second or two that the X-COM series was inbound...
i have only ever heard about these games thougth myth and legends is good to know that i was not going crazy
all I can say is. Woo.
I mean, I never touched these games because I remember hearing they were infected with starfuck. so now ill have to pick them up, maybe wait for bundle though,..
I hope they'll add final part of the "new" trilogy as well. UFO: Afterlight is clearly the best of them, and it IMO even overcomes the original X-COM.
(have I really said that??)

They're similar in the sense that you have a Geoscape, build/develop bases, research alien techs, and fight them in tactical combat. There are a few differences, like:
- In Aftershock, you can't build a base anywhere; bases are already in some provinces, though you can build the areas (labs, factories) of your choosing on them. Afterlight is somewhat similar.
- In Aftershock and Afterlight, combat is closer to a pausable real-time than to a turn-based implementation. It's still as good as X-Com was, perhaps even better in some senses.
- In Aftershock and Afterlight, you don't really have funding - but you do have limited resources, and you might have to acquire resources by using diplomacy with other factions, or by taking further territory. In both games, you're not fighting aliens to protect Earth, but you're fighting for survival.
I haven't mentioned Aftermath because I haven't played it. To be completely honest, I haven't played much of Aftershock and Afterlight yet (for a variety of reasons), but I like what I've seen so far.
Grrr HATE not having a gaming PC!
So many GOGs to buy when I finally get my new rig. Heh just for the hel of it I might buy Waxworks and run it on a GTX295

As much of a Nvidia fanboy as I am, you might want to get a 5970 instead of the 295, as they are (roughly) similarly priced but the 5970 [url=http://media.bestofmicro.com/R/0/230364/original/Resident%20Evil%205%208xAA.png]clearly [url=http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/221/bench/L4D2_03.png]in [url=http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2009/11/18/amd-ati-radeon-hd-5970-review/8]...
