There's so much to do, check these off your list before the big sale ends!

We're bidding farewell to the big Sale, and the #SummerGaming can really begin!
The sale ends on June 18, and these are the last few days to stock up on games for your DRM-free summer playlist – games you'll easily pack up and play anywhere, like by the beach or out camping, which is not nearly as ridiculous as it sounds.

We made a to-do list for keeping track of what needs doing:

✓ Check if you're close to unlocking Sunless Sea or RiME! Spending $5 before the sale ends gets you the first, spending $20 unlocks the latter.

✓ XCOM: Enemy Unknown premieres DRM-free and invades #SummerGaming with an 80% discount, this award-winning turn-based strategy is a wonderful choice for slow and steady laptop gaming.

✓ Catch up on what's big and new in the sale! Over fifty games joined the lineup including Kingdom Come: Deliverance Pack (-20%), Surviving Mars (-30%) and The Witcher 3 – GOTY (-60%), realMyst (-70%), Commandos (-90%), FAR: Lone Sails (-10%), Mages of Mystralia (-40%), Hyper Light Drifter (-60%), Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak (-75%) and many others.

✓ Visit gog.com/connect and turn your participating Steam games DRM-free.

✓ Itching for Cyberpunk 2077? Oh boy, who isn't. Scratch that itch with our best-of collection of cyberpunk-inspired games.

The #SummerGaming Sale will run through June 18, 10 PM UTC.

MarkoH01: The Saboteur
I had so much fun with this game. Not just the gameplay (shooting stuff and blowing things up), but the driving. PC controls for the vehicles are really loose and wonky, but I had an absolute blast driving at high speed, crashing into stuff and then trying to make a hasty escape with a wrecked-up vehicle. This game was way more fun for me than I was led to expect from reviews I'd read. Hope you enjoy it. :)

timmy010: cyberpunk 2077 is apparently first person. i think that just ruined it for me.
Completely killed my interest in it as well. Very disappointing.

timmy010: who knew witcher 3 would be the masterpiece of a decade.
Oh, I think Cyberpunk will take that honor (assuming it's released this decade), but just not for those of us that don't like/can't play FPP games. ;)

00063: Um i just wanted to install the game, and what the hell happened to the classic installers? There's only a huge galaxy button!!!
avatar
zlaywal: There's a new name for it, Download Offline Backup Installer under the big blue button.
Thanks, now hopefully there isn't any "optional trash" bundled with it.

Seriously, try galaxy was unnecessary, but the whole DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL NOW in every single game is going too far!
Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one who feels about the Galaxy button that way. I appreciate the offer, but I'd very much like GOG to keep that as an optional client for people who got used to keeping track of how many achievements they got, how many hours of their life has been wast... I mean, played and get the game updates process automated.

Was going to rant about it somewhere, but chose not to waste anybody's time on it, so, as long as GOG won't spit at me for trying to use those stone age "offline" installers in the future - I'm not complaining.

P.S.
Thanks for Sunless Sea and Rime!

mike_cesara: Why not? I'm sure some of us are spending quite impressive amount of money on those sales ; )

Not a bad idea actually ; ) (except cost of the trip to Warsaw, that should be on you)
I bet this would work for many.

badon: I'm glad I'm not the only one spending higher sums of money on GOG sales. GOG is the one and only reason I decided to make it a hobby to become a "serious" gamer this year.

badon: GOG, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but I never once looked-up any of those games you listed. I did hover my mouse to see if they're linkified, but they're not. If they were all links, I would have looked at each one of them. Please start linking game names to the GOG game page. It's smart business, and to not do it is probably worthy of being called "lazy".
Agree 1,000 percent as I did the same -- hovered, no links, didn't bother looking. Might have bought one of them, but too lazy to run a search for all of them just to see if they were interesting.

As for what I bought in the sale, like I said before, I haven't bought a game in ages, so I ended up with a few I had wanted for a while, and I'm very happy with my haul:

Beyond Divinity -- (come on, it was 59 cents, how could you not????)
Divinity II
RiME (free)
Civilization IV Complete
Icewind Dale 2 Complete
Dead Space
The Witcher 2
Ziggurat (free)
Theme Hospital
Sunless Sea (free)
Dragon Age: Origins

There were about 10 more I would have loved to buy but, when I have about 120 out of my 173 games I haven't played yet, it just seemed greedy. So am forcing myself to have played a few before I'm 'allowed' to buy more :)

Thanks for the sale, though, GOG. Thrilled I got what I did, and am already in the midst of a couple of them.

I just hope there's not too much stealth in it but yes, I am curious. Unfortunately this sale has swamped me with new games and I don't even know which one to try first. So far I am playing Golem which was released before the summer sale and I have much more fun than I would have expected from this small indie title. It's a puzzle game - yes ... and it's a bit trial and error - yes - but the game reinvents itself with each Golem iteration so the puzzles and the way how to solve them are changing in nearly every level. Also it looks really nice and has a fitting soundtrack and nice and smooth animations.

O.K. - understandable. For people who are ot able to enjoy FPP games at all this really must have been a bummer.

For me it was a huge bummer. I was really anticipating this game (I guess we all were), and finding out it's FPP just kills me. I can't stand FPP. But reading the dev comments about it, I understand why they chose to go that route. I still don't like it though. :P

Hey GOG,
or whomever created this thread,

Obviously the names of those games should be links to their game pages so as to make it easier to learn more about them instantly.

I suspect you left out the links because adding more than one link to a forum post does not work all the time. Any links after the first link in the same paragraph (or maybe even the same post) often will not be formatted as links even though they are bounded by the URL tags. However, the GOG forum members have figured out that there is a trick to make it work.

The key is to insert a space after the opening tag for the URL before the text that is being linked. As an example, simply quote this post to see this link to this thread. As an example here is another link.

Notice in the reply text that there is a space before the first word within the URL tag, after the right square bracket. Just add a space like that when typing your links (f.e. to GOG game pages) in your NEWS announcements and they will always be formatted into links by the forum software.

(However, links to other websites sometimes need their URL addresses adjusted, too, which is beyond the scope of this FYI.)

Or simply fix the forum - just an idea ;)
Aaaah! I almost forgot to buy a gift for my friend now when I finally has been a customer long enough to be allowed to XD Have been waiting so long, and almost missed it! Whew!

A big thank you to GOG and all the game companies for this great summer sale! :)
+ Dreamfall: The Longest Journey ✓
total: 22 games
Not bad, not bad at all.. Can I have more time as a bonus? ; >

I know, complains are more popular. Let me then, for a change, be glad about Cyberpunk being FPP.
I was counting on it to be honest. At last something for me, I have enough other games and I really miss a proper cyberpunk game in a First Person Perspective. It's a cyberpunk, has to be FPP! I'm not bitching about any games, let them be as their are. Not making petitions to remove VN from the store I'm not interested in nor making The Witcher FPP I might enjoy even more.
Let me enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 my way, in the First Person Perspective!

Thank you for the summer sale GOG!
That was a great sale and i dare to say it was the best in all these years here.

Thanks, GOG. :)
Can't belive it's over - another sale come and gone! That was a nice one, thanks for the freebies and great games.

Time to go play them now... ;)
I agree with everyone praising the GOG summer sale. It was a lot of fun, and I got many excellent games I had on my wishlist. Most of the discounts were good to excellent, including many record low prices. I left a lot of games for a future sale, so I'm already looking forward to the next GOG sale and the next time my money burns a hole in my pocket.

EDIT:

Can you believe it? I surpassed 300 games in my GOG account during the summer sale! Wow! Never in my life did I ever think someday I would own - OWNNNN!!! - that many games. Since they're all DRM-free, I truly do own them. They're mine, ALL MINE! Mwahahaha!

Thanks GOG. I'm truly a gamer now, because you made gaming fun again. Gaming. It's a nice recreational activity alone, or with friends and family.

I just lost my post due to GOG's crappy forum. NOBODY asked for this pile of garbage. We just want to buy games. I'm reading the forum in GOG Galaxy, and it's not even possible to copy game names so we can look them up. They need to be linkified. SMF is a better forum. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Bleh. I can't remember the rest I wanted to post.
