opticq: I'm not sure I would be able to get into the old LA P&C games as I have only played TOMI.

What P&C games are your favorites?
avatar
IAmSinistar: Well, on top of the ones I listed earlier, I think Botanicula is about the pinnacle of P&C games that I have played. I love everything about it. Looking forward to playing Machinarium, and wish there were more Amanita Design titles. I need to get the Samorost games as well.
Hmm, I always thought of Botanicula as more exploration than adventure who bothered me a bit.

stg83: I agree with you on Star Wars as I never got invested in the franchise like most fans are, I haven't even seen the original trilogy in its entirety as they didn't really seem to be some of the best Sci-Fi movies made to me either.

Also I hope you didn't take my earlier post the wrong way as I in no way intended to imply that if one doesn't like or appreciate Grim Fandango then they aren't an adventure game fan or anything to that affect. Taste in games, movies and pretty much a lot of other stuff is always subjective and everyone has a right to enjoy whatever strikes their fancy.

IAmSinistar: Thanks, and I was just being short-tempered, nobody really offended me. I just think it's useful for people to keep in mind that there are a variety of opinions out there. And I'm glad that a lot of people are excited to be getting these games. I'm not a dog in the manger about such things. Plus this should really be a boost for GOG's popularity, which I also countenance as a good thing.

blotunga: You're still getting a copy of Knights of the Old Republic. . As soon as I see a sale here..
avatar
IAmSinistar: Isn't that a BioWare game? Might it have additional rights issues in that regard?
It is, but since it's Star wars I think it's LucasArts first. EA doesn't seems to have the rights as it's not on Origin

KOTOR is published by LucasArts on steam, so there is your answer.
I think the Lucas art games are mentoned enough, but i do wish for them to be here
From Disney ?
well, there is :

DuckTales: The Quest for Gold

There are pc ports of Maui Mallard, Lion King, and Aladdin that wouldn't be bad to see again. If you check the thread there are a few Disney Interactive titles listed, just not as much as the LucasArts catalog.
We got 2 words for ya

Grim Fandango
the original Monkey Island series
Sam & Max Hit the Road
Day of the Tentacle
Grim Fandango
Loom
Maniac Mansion
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders
Indiana Jones adventures
The Dig
Full Throttle

My son would probably like any of the decent Star Wars games

I'd never heard of Night Shift before, but that sounds like fun

Also
Epic Mickey 1 & 2
Kingdom Hearts (any)
Castle of Illusion
Aladdin (preferably with the old cheat codes available)
Ducktales
Toy Story 1 & 2

Haven't played Tron 2.0
Every. single. one. No exceptions. All of them instabuys for me.

IAmSinistar: That's fine then. I edited my own post to clarify as well. This is just a sensitive area for me, because my taste in games are diverse and unconventional. Sometimes I'm perceived as a deliberate iconoclast rather than as what I am, which is someone with really odd tastes. :)

Knights of the Old Republic 2 is better. Just like New Vegas is better than Fallout 3.These companies really need to stop contracting Obsidian to do sequels because they're doing too good of a job.

I disagree though.... In bought cases I think the base game is way better ;)

Knights of the Old Republic 2 was so good it almost saved the Starwars prequel trilogy thanks to its portrayal of the Jedi.

Almost. I mean, there are miracles, and then there's bending the fabric of reality.

And yet it's one on the very very very few games I couldn't force myself finishing in more then 20 years of gaming. There must be something wrong with it ;)

If blotunga is going to force one on me, I guess it should be the first one. I liked Fallout 3 better, and I hate playing a series out of order anyway. :)
Definitely Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2, Outlaw, Lego Star Wars Collection, and Hercules.

GabiMoro: Day of the Tentacle
Grim Fandango
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Same for me, just add KOTOR 2.
