Who should portray role of Geralt from Rivia to you guys?
The Witcher Netflix project finished the next stage of work. Lauren S. Hissrich, screenwriter and producer of the series, has completed work on the pilot and is now waiting for his acceptance (and possible amendments).
Unfortunately Andrew Sapkowski doesn't want to be involved in TV mini-series reboot of original Witcher(2001)TV.

I thought that Andrzej Sapkowski was going to be a creative consultant for the series.

Who knows maybe he had his own vision of new Witcher TV mini-series.He doesn't really care about it.George Lucas also had another vision of new Star Wars saga/trilogy he planned to finish it in Episode IX instead of that in 2011 Lucas Film re-released original trilogy on Blu-Ray.Disney decided to reboot original trilogy even prequel trilogy instead of new storyline.At least George Lucas is still creative consultant of Disney.In 2012 Lucas Film sold licence for Star Wars films to Disney,Lucas Arts sold licence for Star Wars to Electronic Arts.

Lauren S. Hissrich said on her Twitter that it would be 8 episodes and will debut around 2020

Hope they dont feminize the series and throw in random people from various background to ensure equality....

He has to be played by Johnny Depp, obviously!

Bah. I think he might do fine. He's a good actor, he's got the physique for it and he can do great deadpan comedy, which should come in handy. Someone with a bit... rougher features might have been better, but then again everyone who comes to my mind is either way to old (except for maybe Thomas Jane), or long dead. So I'm fine with this choice. If anything/anyone sinks this series, I doubt it will be Cavill.

Ah yeah, Mads Mikkelsen to the rescue. He was great in Valhalla Rising.

He says he plays the Witcher 3 and plays World of Warcraft.

It's no simple thing for some authors to get involved in a project like this without total creative control. In the past he's been happy to let others play with his creations, but his baby will always be the books he wrote, and I can respect that.
It might also be that he would have been more interested in a full series based directly from his novels, rather than a mini-series that cannibalizes characters and concepts piecemeal from the world he created.
