For Sigmar's sake- it's sequel, not sequal. Are you doing it intentionally to drive me mad? :D

I blame the people pronoucing it as SequAl instead of Sequel.
Speaking of Total War, STeam has the first two Total War games the original "Total War Shogun" and "Total War Medieval" both adapted to run on a modern computer, for sale. Would love to see them on GOG.

Don't mean to be too nitpicky but weren't we supposed to get nations like Skaven, Lizardmen and Tomb Kings in the original game? Isn't it bit too early for a sequel?

Sequel.

Also for your correction the point of the first game is that it takes place solely the region that is the Old World.

Tomb Kings are in the lands of Nehekhara further south called the Southlands.

Lizardman are pretty much in a South America region called Lustria which is an ocean away from the Old World (Basically the map of the World of Warhammer Fantasy looks exactly like Earth, there is a Europe, Americas, Africa, etc.)

Skaven were the Only ones that could have been in the first game because the biggest Skaven region, Skavenblight, is in the Old World between Tilea and Estalia.

But they decided to save the Skaven for the next game because they want all 3 games of this trilogy to start with 4 factions.

Smells like a cashgrab to me. Why not make a Warhammer grand strat which includes ALL of the Old World and it's races?

While I agree that it smells like a cashgrab, I also haven't played the game. Having said that, if the storyline is actually segmented to function as a trilogy, slowly expanding to new territories, then it would make sense. Maybe somebody that knows this can let us know.

Isn't there talk of this being the last game on this engine? I really hope they get a new engine after this and make a proper Medieval 3 with an entire world campaign map.
Good luck with that.

Warhammer 2 instead of an expansion? That sure came fast. Full price for a new game?

That's what I was thinking. The first game isn't even a year old.
I think the idea from the very beginning was to make three 'expandalones'—games that would either be playable by themselves or fit together to form a bigger whole, with the combined maps and races of the different games. Thus this doesn't shouldn't come as any surprise to those following the development. But maybe I'm wrong, since I stay away from Steam I haven't been following it all that closely.

From the sound of it this game will inlcude the Warhammer counterpart of Americas (home of the Dark Elves and Lizardmen) as well as "Atlantis" (Ulthuan, home of the High Elves, located in the middle of the Atlantic Sea). Skaven is a pretty good choice to pair of with Lizardmen as they have been causing a lot of trouble for the lizards in the lore.

As for the, 'the game isn't even a year old' comment: I think the publisher is right in believing that they must push out these three games in fairly quick succession before it becomes old hat to most people, so I wouldn't be surprised if we will see the next and final game little more than a year after this one.

As long as you could actually play them together too (as in Lizardmen vs Orcs or whoever were in the first one), otherwise it would be a bit limited..

I'll probably pick this up when they do a complete set or something with all three, never really played Total War but the Warhammer setting is very appealing.
Creative Assembly being Steam onry have decided they would prefer to not have my money. So this is non news.

You can rent this game if you want to download 700 terabytes of sh!t. So no.
