orcishgamer: That's a bit like complaining that they'll be spending money on Mac or Linux when you've never wanted to game on either in their life. If they announce a stretch goal of "port to more platforms" and the KS folks fund it then what does it matter? Have people seriously complained when other projects added Mac and Linux ports? Nope, not really, this really comes down to the irrational hatred people have for mobile. I know what people "think" it comes down to, but I suspect the real, underlying reason is just that PC gamers hold a lot of hatred for mobile and many still hold the same hatred towards consoles.
nijuu: PC Gamers imho want the best PC experience possible (yeah ok they will do a mac and linux version). Having to do iOS and Android would force them to have to put resources aside and also work problems of getting the game onto both those platforms (which you have to admit, is mostly made up of junk and simplistic games with a small handful of really good games). Better time spent focusing on the core games and what the vast majority want. If the game is a success (very good chance), then they can port it. Thats my simplistic view.
The technical specs of many mobile platforms are fine and as for porting, a competently designed engine, designed up front to target everything minimizes effort and maximizes integration on all platforms.
People act like nothing happens to change the Windows version when they decide to add Mac or Linux, I assure you the keyboard and mouses may look pretty much the same, the box with the guts in it is very similar or the same, but they still have to do a lot of things to make it work (I mean, it's not like it's a good idea to leverage DirectX if you want to get onto Mac or Linux with ease).
I promise you, 90% of the real reason people reject the idea is purely ignorance of how multiplatform software is developed or irrational hatred.
And exactly why does it matter if every single game is fucking trash on mobile? It's not like PC had had a good RPG in years when Fallout came out and rocked our world. Should we have instead predicted that the PC could never have a good RPG because so many are trash? Hell no, we bought Fallout instead!
I also take issue with the idea all mobile games are trash, they most certainly are not and in fact there are some amazing mobile games. Given that many of our best "PC" games have made there way on there I would think this meme would die, somehow it does not. I actually wonder if those doing most of the complaining actually own a good mobile device and have actually tried any amount of gaming on it for any serious amount of time. I kind of think the answer would be a big, fat "No", but I'd be interested to know if I was wrong on that assumption.
