johnnygoging: I didn't mind it. Also, I don't feel that they changed around the character of the Emperor whenever it was convenient. They almost immediately set her up as less evil than Lorca, maybe less evil than the norm for the darkling universe.
I saw absolutely nothing of the sort. She's totally evil until in this episode where it's suddenly like we're supposed to treat her as some noble ruler betrayed by an evil villain. If anything it would have made much more sense for Burnham to throw her lot in with Lorca. All she knows is that Georgiou fucking eats people and slaughtered without a glance the entire rebelion Burnham was trying to protect, and Lorca is the guy who's trying to overthrow her. johnnygoging: you got Michelle Yeoh all up in the business then you're gonna get Kung Fu and if you don't like I will personally Single Whip some sense into you.
Yeah, given her record I should be grateful it wasn't even worse :P I absolutely hate those asian martial arts movies. Haaaaate. johnnygoging: everyone was surprised that lorca was darkling. they just didn't spend a lot of time dwelling on it. they're starfleet, dammit! I don't know when these were filmed and how long the Trek community has known about Lorca but if they knew that the Trek community knew, they wouldn't have really driven the reveal hard after that.
I really doubt they make those episodes within weeks of release :P Yes.
johnnygoging: dude, if the plan was for this universe (the "main" one in this show), to be the canon universe, it's gone now. we are in another universe. I have no doubts that we are seeing a non-darkling alternate universe to the old shows.
That's my "headcanon" too, but I very much doubt that's the intention behind the show. What in the hell does that mean?
Vitek: Hmpf, until the very last part I even felt like the show is setup better than it was before. That means with Lorca out and Saru as captain who actually possibly tries to utilize his crew properly but then it went back downhill (from the small hill it was on).
Yeah, I actually did like Saru as captain and the crew working together in a semi-proper Star Trek fassion. Hey, the no-name bridge people actually have names! I liked more the scene at the end where Georgiou is standing out in the open and dozens of soldiers are just rushing in and dying as she mows them down and no one can hit here like in a game with hilariously bad AI. Man, those Terran guys have worse aim than the Stormtroopers.
