DreamedArtist: THQ owns it if I am not mistaken?... my box copies all show THQ plastered all over it with Relics entertainment.
THQ (not THQ Nordic) used to own it, but then they shut down and auctioned all their properties to various companies and Relic (alongside Dawn of War, Space Marine and Company of Heroes) were sold to Sega.

Ugh... Great. well GG, I will play my DVD copy and eat fruit loops in anger.
when i die, i want to come back as a piece of software on which denuvo anti-tamper has attached itself. the joy the shenmu series must feel is incalculable; i believe our fear of the holy denuvo anti-tamper is misplaced, for when our inner-most beings are inter-woven with the holiest of anti-tamper technologies we will experience the true ascension of the human experience.

to those haughty scientists who insist there is not afterlife, and to those pious men of the cloth who would cast judgment, forgive them!

for they know not the joy that awaits them as they become one with the almighty denuvo!
What's with all this anti-Tampere stuff? It's a nice city...

Grargar: We have seen Denuvo on free games. We now see Denuvo on old games. Clearly, the next logical step would be to add Denuvo on free old games.
I was reading NetHack had a patch recently. Is this the Denuvo patch? Is it!?

tremere110: Sega loves DRM. It's the reason Warhammer 40K Dawn of War isn't here yet :(

When THQ deHQ'd (I'm so sorry), SEGA bought Dawn of War.

edit: ninjad! (and one more edit cause quotes apparently break my brain)

On the topic launch windows, I'm not sure exactly what the point of views on it are but I get the impression perhaps Denuvo's and pub's are diverging.

Pheace: 1-2 years is probably far more realistic

tfishell: I thought the first three months were the most critical sales period for games.
They're also the most hectic. Often a ton of developers take a break around the time the game releases after having been in full-time burst mode to finish it. On top of that time lost the focus of the game after release is usually on bug-crushing and releasing more content. I doubt there's a desire to focus on creating another version of the game to maintain, especially if you're not releasing that version from the start to begin with.

After 1-2 years, depending on the game, most of the big bug-crushing will have been done, and most of the patches/dlc extra content will have come out so they won't have to spend nearly as much time on maintaining/supporting two versions as they would shortly after release.
Good to know so i can avoid it, shenmue 1 and 2 are very good but not good enough to ignore shit like Denuvo.
I wish I could be wrong, but Sega seems to be literally "charmed" with this Denuvo and implementing it into any game released by them on PC (only good thing is that they're not doing it with games released before...). I'm not counting that situation will improve in near future.

I'm also losing all hopes for seeing any Sega's games here on GOG, despite the fact that some time ago I was trying to "agitate" for this. First they've removed all their games from shops where they sold their games as DRM-free (DotEmu, Nuuvem, probably Gamersgate) and left only those "drm-fied". Then they've started to release their games (pc versions) only on Steam, now Denuvo as simple "continuation" of this trend. They're utterly hopeless and stubborn.

DreamedArtist: Give it a few days at best. I have faith in them.
Volski is on fire right now :-P

Guys, I already have Denuvo and Redshell infecting my PCs and so far I don't see any problems.

I still play Total War: Warhammer 2 fine today.

You are making a big deal over nothing. There I said it, the biggest possible unpopular opinion ever here.

Whatever happened to the days when Always Online DRM was the worse possible form of DRM?

Denuvo is nothing in Comparison.

johnnygoging: Does this strike anyone else as really fucking hilarious? These Dreamcast games which are from like 2001, have now had Denuvo added to them in 2018. You're probably thinking "well, they aren't the same games. they remade them all in Unity/Unreal4/Dragon". Nope, the same games. But now with 100% more Denuvo Anti Tamper!

So yeah normally I don't really think much of these things but this time I just thought it was really funny.

What do you think? Are any of you guys pre-ordering Shenmue I and II: Denuvo Edition?
I was going to but I know that Sega loves their DRM so thank you. I will avoid it. Thank you.

I couldn't care less. If it works and I get to enjoy it, I'll buy it.

its 2018. Worst things, that could happen with gamedev, already happend. At this point, nothing can surprise me.
Especially talking this title - its sega, what did you expect?
Rumor has it that Denuvo has Denuvo... ;).Cheers
I honestly would like to see some Denuvo (or other DRM) representative here, on the GOG forum, trying to convince customers how good DRM is for us. Isn't that how free market works? That'd be fun as hell ; p
Let's face it, we aren't customers they're looking for. Their loss, definitely not ours.
