Abe's Oddysee reconstructed.

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, a critically acclaimed restoration of Abe's Oddysee, is available now on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux with a 10% launch discount!

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty earns the right to call itself a true remake. It's so much more than just a graphical upgrade, it's a modern retelling of the unforgettable experience that Abe's Oddysee was all these years ago. The unsettlingly beautiful visuals, the disturbingly odd universe, and the unforgivingly difficult gameplay were enough to leave a lasting impression on anyone who encountered Abe's Oddysee. Seventeen years later, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty retains the setting, the sounds, and the flavor; all brought up to modern platforming par, and beyond, with updated controls, refined mechanics and a reconstructed experience.

Also available for purchase are two pieces of DLC:
-Bonus level: Alf's Escape, a brand-new extensive level with completely fresh New 'n' Tasty mechanics.
-Alternative costume: Scrub Abe

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty makes a tremendous impression, rose-tinted glasses not required. It's available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% launch discount will last for one week, until Wednesday, March 4, at 4:49 PM GMT.

tfishell: DLC tends to suck, but I'm more concerned about how it's being handled on shelves and in the catalog. I don't own any so I'm wondering, how does it show up and what is your opinion of the way it appears on one's shelf?

JudasIscariot: It shows up as separate installers :)
That seems like it could get messy. :P

ZaineH: So, the remake costs three times as much and has day one DLC. Not a great first impression. Has the original aged well?
I must say I disagree with darthspudius (sorry ^^") : for me, the original is always one of the best video game (it's on my "all-time top games", and they aren't a lot). It aged on some things, mainly...difficulty for some people I would say.
If you have questions, don't hesitate :)

I'm absolutely not interested in the remake. The original, for me, is perfect (and hasn't DLC. And didn't needed it to be perfect). And some reviews I read pointed to small issues the original didn't had, and who are important for me (in the gameplay, and in ennemy AI)(not big issues, but it appear the original was better, at least for my taste). And I love the original graphics (the new ones aren't convincing me and attracting me at all)...
I'm not neutral : I played it when it was launched, and since (1997 if I don't mistake), I love it and play it again from time to time with a lot of pleasure. It's a game with "personality". And if you like reflection/puzzle plate-formers with some difficulty and a lovely world executed perfectly, play the original. And if you have finished it and want more, play the sequel :D (which is as good !)

IDPLAY: I was refering to the number of DLCs (Crusader Kings 2) rather than the content. Not a big fan of costume/horsearmor tier DLC myself.
Well, for this game they've indicated there will be no further DLC. As for their other games, I hope they do Complete editions like they did with the debut. There are loads of trivial add ones for a lot of their newer titles (such as Victoria 2), and I'd rather GOG didn't carry reams of it as separate items either.

I would assume he meant that the DLC have separate installers from the main game, but those installers appear under the shelf entry for the main game.

You don't say...

Note: The image doesn't show the third DLC I own (Pilgrim) and I also don't have the Juggernaut and Necromancer DLCs. Yeah...

mrkgnao: Sigh. Day one DLC's on GOG.
And... why should the DLC be delayed if it's already developed? You did know the DLC came later on the PS4, right? :) So then it wasn't 1-day DLC. But now it wouldn't make sense to release it later.

No to mention the incredibly awkward way to install all that mess.

I'm just trying to be helpful. :) Can't really hurt, can it? ;-)

And I don't mind DLC btw. Although some companies tend to overuse it. For this title no more DLC is actually planned.

That was my bad, I clicked on the wrong post. What a tit! :D
This is so low it's already insulting.

I don't want a guy sitting around in my physical stores trying to sell overprized cheap earrings either, the whole idea is insulting and not good for the athmosphere...

LOL! :D
Does the game have Depth of Field effects?
If so can you turn them off?
