This is how a new age of epic fantasy RPGs was spawned.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, which marked the triumphant resurgence of epic party-based RPGs, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount.

Some RPG enthusiasts enjoy customizing their character and carefully picking their travelling companions based on both their personalities and combat skills. Some enjoy dark, engaging narratives with branching elements and dozens of side-quests. Others just want to hack at giant dragons and demonic hordes. Dragon Age: Origins walked the extra mile, also letting players shape their legendary Grey Warden by playing through their unique backstory. The whirlwind of wild magic, gruesome battles, complex politics, tough moral choices, and dramatic moments that ensued helped cement this epic adventure as one of the most influential ones in recent memory. And that was even before that night when Morrigan approached you with a certain offer...

Gather your party of memorable NPCs and venture against the tides of darkness in Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% launch discount will last until July 21, 12:59 PM UTC.

I did not expect this. Awesome. Perhaps this release will make less of a mess than the Origin one does (that one claims add-ons are not installed despite very much having them installed, uninstalling and reinstalling parts or everything haven't helped).

drealmer7: I wonder if this Dragon Age game is any good...?
It's ... Some good. It has spell combos. And uh... You fight invasion of evil monsters with a villain that doesn't really have much in a way of motivation I guess?
high rated
UPDATE:
Hotfix for Origin client snatching our build is now live - both as an offline patch and in Galaxy.

Full offline build will take a bit more time but will be replaced by tomorrow.

Awesome. Do you know if Dead Space has the same problem?

what is the difference between hotfix and offline build?
because I'm downloading the game right now, and if I need to redownload it tomorrow I'll just cancel the current downlaod.

yeh, I'll pass, I read your notes on that other thread to the guy who was contemplating it, definitely seems not for me / not worth my time, especially with all the other stuff I have to play. Thanks, as always.

You can continue the download you have now, and then download and apply the patch. The result of that would be the same game as if you downloaded the full game tomorrow, since by tomorrow the patch would be integrated.

I'm thinking that now if you check the game page you should find a patch you'll need to download and apply before running the game, while tomorrow the kit itself will be patched and there will be no more need to download the patch.

good thank you
So conflicted!
EA, Sims 2 Bon Voyage/Mass Effect DRM era, avoiding them, (there was that one time but it was an accident!), and my "EA allowance" being for Sims 2 (*hint*), and not even really wanting this game until I see it here, I am conflicted..,

And very, very tempted.

A...allowances can be adjusted...?
Question: is A Tale of Orzammar included, or do we still need to download that separately?

Great Release! ^_^
Cool. Dragon Age: Origins was my favorite game that I played in 2010. I will definitely pick this up tomorrow when I get paid.

There was only one part I didn't like, which was "The Fade". That part bothered me because you were forced into it regardless of your actions, and because it had a powerless feeling. If I replay this, I'll probably just use a Walkthrough for that part and then go on with the rest of the game.

Cheers.
Didn't expect THIS game here at all.
Cant buy it this now though.
But deffo wishlisted for later.
