Deep down and dirty.

Caveblazers is now available, 50% off until June 20, 2 PM UTC, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Proper spelunking requires bravado, perseverance, and cool gear. Also a strong liver for all these potions you'll be downing. Also a spare liver as it'll get ripped off your body again and again by nasty monsters, traps, or crafty bosses. Be like a rogue, grab the treasure, jump, blast away the beasties and get yourself some new gear before you do it all over again!

Get the Arena Mode DLC for a frantic new game mode that pits you against waves of beasties in a variety of destructible stages.
Not my kind of game, but cheer to those you love it.

musteriuz: The one thing that basically killed Spelunky for me was that ghost that pops out after 10 seconds - does this game also have a similar "we don't want you to actually explore each cavern" mechanic?
Nope! I have played it for quite a bit, and as far as I can tell, there is no time limit for each level (except in the daily challenge, but that's a special mode).

After playing this game for quite a bit, I can say I love it! :D It's very fun and I definetly recommend it to any one that enjoys games like spelunky, rogue legacy, vertical drop heroes, risk of rain, etc.

Also, because of the low player count right now, I am ranked first in all the leaderboards! :') This is a first for me! :D Thank you gog for allowing me to experience such an amazing feeling! (and I don't care that there are only like 7 people, I'm still first! :P)

Spelunky's ghost comes after 2-and-a-half minutes spent on a level (which should be plenty of time to find your way through). It's there to ensure you have to actually keep moving, and prioritize what treasure/items to go for, rather than just hoovering it all up at your leisure. You can actually mod it out, but that would be a bit like modding Tetris to allow the player to stop blocks from descending at will.

Regarding Caveblazers, I only know of it what I saw in some gameplay videos Tom Francis (developer of Gunpoint and Heat Signature...but, to be clear, not of this game) uploaded months ago. He liked it, and it looked cool, (and I don't remember seeing any ghosts :) ). I'll almost certainly be getting it at some point.

Do you use Galaxy? If not, can you say whether the dailies are available without it?

No extra discount for wishlisters?

JudasIscariot: Only when you manage to unlock that one achievement in Cultist Simulator :P
I think I need a few days to recover my sanity. I'll try next week. :P

Sorry, I use Galaxy so I'm not sure! :S Altough it does automatically show my GoG name for the leaderboards, so you probably need galaxy to use the leaderboards. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

ReynardFox: Ah, another pixelvomit game that doesn't know what roguelike means.
Semantics that 98% of the target audience won't care about. I believe the publisher and developer are more concerned about sales which is a very reasonable business approach.

Is this still a discussion?

'Saright. Maybe a Blue will answer eventually. :)

darktjm: Not even remotely roguelike. I am, as usual, very disappointed in gog's lax use of the roguelike tag. Not that anyone but me cares, apparently.
Oh yes. I do care about that tag. I just translate the tag for myself. "Roguelike" = "don't buy" :-) I doubt that that's what the publishers are aiming at, but with how much this tag has been abused it's sensible to avoid anything tagged in this way.

Ta for the answer.

Was also going to discuss Hunch's response, but would rather not. Ta for replying to me anyway, Mr. Bluntley.
Hm. How does it have less visual personality than both the old and new Spelunky?

Intersesting use of cockney in the trailer. You don't see that often!
>yogscast

nah
Cool to see this released here at last!

Very cute, I may let myself be tempted (as the dev bothered to implement key rebindings, niice non lazy dev, not like Annapurna). :)
