Deep down and dirty.

Caveblazers is now available, 50% off until June 20, 2 PM UTC, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Proper spelunking requires bravado, perseverance, and cool gear. Also a strong liver for all these potions you'll be downing. Also a spare liver as it'll get ripped off your body again and again by nasty monsters, traps, or crafty bosses. Be like a rogue, grab the treasure, jump, blast away the beasties and get yourself some new gear before you do it all over again!

Get the Arena Mode DLC for a frantic new game mode that pits you against waves of beasties in a variety of destructible stages.
What engine does it use? Does it allow scaling/zooming?

I don't know, a pixelated procedurally generated roguelike? Sounds very experimental. I don't think it will catch on.

Agreed, like the art house 'battle royale' things i hear about

GOG.com:
Is Galaxy required for the daily challenge or multiplayer? If so, please put a notice to that effect on the store page. (And if not -- Yay!)
Meh. Roguelike. Pass.
Not even remotely roguelike. I am, as usual, very disappointed in gog's lax use of the roguelike tag. Not that anyone but me cares, apparently.

There aren't any battle royal games on GoG so they have to be too niche right? :p
I haven't even tried the main game mode yet as I've only been playing the DLC wave mode, and I have to say... It is so freaking fun!!! :D The combat is so great and satisfying!!! :D (Plus there seems to be a butt load of different weapons and perks to play around with! :D) If you love games like rogue legacy and spelunky, you'll most likely love this game too! :D And I definetlhy recommend the DLC! I feel like I am going to put a lot of hours into that wave mode! :D Seriously tho, super happy with my purchase! :D Thank you so much for releasing this game GOG! :D

The description in the gamecard is taken literally from the game's website, so I don't think GOG is the one to blame...

Spelunkylike would be a more precise term...

The one thing that basically killed Spelunky for me was that ghost that pops out after 10 seconds - does this game also have a similar "we don't want you to actually explore each cavern" mechanic?
low rated
Ah, another pixelvomit game that doesn't know what roguelike means.
