Since I can basically post anything in this thread, I'll use this opportunity to ask just one question.

Let's say that every joke that comes out from your mouth is awful. None of your friends think that you're funny. And one day, after you had just delivered one of your unfunny jokes to one of your friends, that friend of yours told you to improve on your bad jokes. So you listened and tried your hardest to improve on your jokes. A few months have passed and you can definitely notice a difference. Now, the question is, did your jokes become better or worse?

Hypothesis : Bad jokes and good jokes are fun. Jokes in-between aren't.

Conclusion : Non-fun jokes getting better or worse are an improvement in both cases.

Warning : The hypothesis may be a bit weak.

Wait, I'm hoping you're not mistaking the unfunny jokes as the ones that other people may find to be offensive. The jokes which I'm referring to are the ones that are simply bad.

Nope, I wasn't thinking about offensive jokes. Just "clever" jokes and "dumb" jokes, both of which can be funny. Puns, for instance, are often funnier when they are bad enough.

The thing is, if you were to ask for my answer or opinion, it would be that the bad jokes simply become worse. The reason as to why I think so is because jokes that are bad may have somewhat developed into its own category (which in this case, "Bad Jokes"). So saying,"improve on your bad jokes" is no different than suggesting someone to improve on his/her dad jokes. Not saying that dad jokes are bad lol. It's just my opinion though. I just find the question quite perplexing.

Humour is perplexing. Making yourself laugh and making others laugh are two very different things (well sometimes), up to you to decide which is most important (but statistically, chances are that what makes you laugh would make someone else laugh, somewhere in the world).

I don't look forward to the day computer algorithms will be able to craft jokes, scientifically designed to tickle our brains with flawless efficiency.
