Fuzzyfireball: Anyone know who owns NOLF?
avatar
cogadh: Monolith developed it, Fox interactive published it and I'm pretty sure they still hold at least some of the rights. Though IIRC,Sierra was also involved in some way, which could means those rights could be almost anywhere by now.
I did some quick searching, FOX Games was bought by Vivendi Games, who merged with Activision. So who knows owns the game rights :(

RaggieRags: Some of this list does remind me of the saying "be careful of what you wish for". Releasing some of those games would probably do nothing else but to rob people out of happy memories.
But at least people can have the chance to legally buy them again as digital downloads, and have them be reasonably compatible with new systems. There will always be those who go back to the games on their childhood and realize they're crappy and hard compared to today's games, but naturally that's not GOG's fault. I'm grateful that GOG does this.

Giver: Haha, everyone needs to go back and read my recent comment on Myth: The Fallen Lords in game requests. Like that request, and then recount the votes for RTS! Myth/Myth 2 HAS to be on YOUR top 10 (I'm talking to YOU, GoG community!) - or you just haven't played it. period. If you had played it, there would be NO doubt.
couldn't agree more. I can understand C&C and Red Alert titles not being there due to their availability on the market, but Myth series are some of the best strategy games ever made. Same goes for Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat and Warhammer: Dark Omen

cogadh: If GOG signs LucasArts, seems like half that list will disappear.
I think GOG and many of us agree that signing LucasArts - however likely or unlikely that will happen this year, next year, etc. - is top priority.
Damm it, Z deserves to be in top 10 RTS.
I appreciate the list but I'm kind of confused as to why Action, Platformer and Puzzle are all one group. The ironic thing in that is that action and puzzle are widely considered the opposite ends of the platformer spectrum.

And then to me, racing and sports have NOTHING to do with fighting games.

fair question :) for several reasons... firstly, having a separate list for each genre would make my job much more difficult as there are some genres which don't have much games with many requests. so I bundled some genres.

I do see a relation between action and platformer or sports and fighting or racing and sports. On the other hand, you are right about puzzle. But that was just for the purpose of putting lemmings in one of the categories :)

Bubalo: The Strategy section is very strange: the first Age of Empires!? Age of Mythology? Dune (not even a strategy game )? Dune 2 (it would be a pain in the ass playing this game nowadays, it was just a prototype)?
avatar
Gazoinks: Hey, Age of Mythology was awesome. The only Age of Blank game I got into (Age of Wonders doesn't count due to being entirely different).
Yep.I actually liked that game over AOE as well :)
I edited the list with American McGee's Alice and Starcraft. Please let me know if I skipped any other games.

mxh178: There are people who disagree with me?????

TrIp13G: On the internet?????
Sure people might disagree with me. Myth is best if you can be patient and get something out of the story/setting and like just being in the simple ambiance (I'd say the same thing about Homeworld & Myst). This might alienate the faster-paced Action, FPS, or RTS gamers. I think most people would appreciate how unique it is, though, if they played it.

See, here's the issue with your original post on the subject. You phrased your opinion as fact. Which turns your whole argument into a fallacy.
