Elmofongo: What is wrong with the 98 versions of X-wing and Tie Fighter?
avatar
tfishell: Nothing, but apparently the BEST versions of either game are not available on GOG. Check out the top reviews of either title.
I know about the reviews but they did not really properly say why the 95 DOS CD ROM versions are better than the windows 98 version.
Loom and The Dig were instant buys for me. :3
I'm very happy to see Outlaws and Zak here on GOG, as well.
AWESOME!

Thanks to GOG, Disney and LucasArts for these great releases!
Why there isn't french translation for these ones (or other european languages support)?

In an other update?

Elmofongo: And I thnk Considering both Grim Fandango and Day of the Tenticle is being released by Double Fine themselves I think its safe to say that they will do the same to Full Throttle.
avatar
haydenaurion: Yep, assuming there are no issues legal, technical or otherwise.
I'm still worried about the soundtrack keeping that from GOG, as that used licensed(I think) music from a metal band that broke up a long time ago.

Perhaps the description is only missing on the gamepage like it happened with other LucasArts Adventure realeses a while ago. At least I hope that is the reason.
The URL to Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders in the news is incorrect. It leads to a 404, I doubt there's a gog.com/new/www.gog.com/game folder anywhere on the server.

The URL to Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge doesn't work either. A 't' too much in http.
Now there are a lot of Lucas titles I'm missing :(
nice set of games but for me it is zero interest. Ill stick to outer space
Welcome, welcome!

TIE Fighter:

"the unargubaly best and definite edition of "Tie Fighter" is the "Collector's CD-ROM Edition 1995". it is basically the old 1994 DOS version with the following enhancements:

- SVGA-resultion (640x480 - the double resulotion of 1994 DOS-version)
- full voice-over (also used later in the 1998 Windows version)

- includes the expansions "Defender of the Empire" as well as "Enemies of the Empire " (GOG does have these)
- enhanced cinematic cutscenes

however, this version is NOT included in the GOG-release. the reason for this is beyond me."

X-Wing:

"I'm sure the 1998 version is ok, but it doesn't have iMUSE and forces you to use a joystick, whereas with 1993 you lose the graphics advantages that came with the Collector's CD-ROM. Call me Goldilocks but you could have nailed it by including the 1994 version."

"This does not include the best version of the game, X-Wing Collector's CD-ROM, the version that had digital sound effects"

----

I'll be honest, I've never played these games so I don't know the fine details, but these versions seem important to a lot of people so I encourage GOG to get them.

And the original Monkey Island game has 500+ votes now, so that seems important to people also.

I was unaware of that. I will follow users' reviews on these titles.
Is there any chance of getting the EGA version of Loom as well?
