phaolo: Oh btw, am I the only one who played Zak McKracken, Loom, (Maniac Mansion) only in EGA?
avatar
yyahoo: I played them all on C64, how would you compare that?
Ah well, that's even worse lol.
Anyway, I still liked those little EGA versions, even if the VGAs are another world lol.

Also:
- I've never played Outlaws, is it that good? O_o
- MI2 "special" is still fugly like MI1SE.. they should have just kept the original or used MI3 graphic.
- Indy Emperor's Tomb was reviewed like a late mediocre Tomb Raider game clone, so I don't know..

You can switch to the original Interface/Graphics at will.
Glad to see even more classics! :)
Did not see this coming!

I know, but I would have still prefered the untouched and cheaper original.
Well, I'll probably buy this anyway and then play some warez DOS version lol.

It was excellent, it didn't capitalize on boob service, it had the indy atmosphere perfectly faithfully done, it had fantastic fistfight with wonderful baddies comportment (i adored their little come-and-get-it gestures when you hesitated), and it has an accidentally removable hat that you had to care for because hey, it's the hat.

So, these reviewers were mediocre, that's all.

Also Outaws was great at the time becase of its very open levels that allowed you to sneak behind the baddes and try to find new angles to surprise them, which makes it a great old west shooter. But many games have started doing that, since.

Because installing some warez is more convenient than hitting a keyboard key ? :-/

Eh, why? The SE contains the original _untouched_ game, which you can play without having to touch the SE-stuff at all (except the startup-menu). You can even get the voice-acting from SE enabled in the classic game (if you want to, this does NOT work in MI1:SE).

If you're even more of a purist, the actual MI2 (classic) game data can be plugged into ScummVM trivially (seeing as they ARE the very same files that were originally released, and thus the very version that is supported by ScummVM).

So, I fail to see your point completely, the MI2SE release has everything you'd want either way.

What a great day for LucasArts fans! Great releases all around, though I didn't enjoy Indiana Jones® and the Emperor's Tomb as much as the other Indy adventures; trying to not get eaten by that shark and not run out of oxygen at the same time was no fun, no fun at all.

And what a sad day for fans that are broke.

*wanders off to make some additions to the wishlist*

EDIT: Looks like that wishlist will be shorter than I thought - shout out to trentonlf and foxowrks for being über kind and generous, but that's not really news with them. Cheers pals, you rock!

Thanks for the info, I'll think about them too, then.

No, I simply don't like very much ports or remakes.
It's like if.. they sold me a classic BN movie or a modified version that switches to a crappy 2015 remake.. I don't need the second.

I'd like the DOS versions with DOSbox; the talkie editions always felt weird.. and my old saves aren't compatible.

This is fantastic, seeing some of the old LucasArts adventure games on GOG!

LucasArts\LucasFilm truly shone the brightist with their original adventure games. THIS is what they did best!

Thankyou GOG ( :
Picked up Indiana Jones and Monkey Island 2.

Man I've heard so many people raving about Outlaws, I enjoy most of the build engine games but never played this, but after buying the aforementioned games it has to go on the wishlist.

Ok. I don't mind having unwanted versions on my DVD as long as the one I watch is in there. Plus, in this particular case, I find the "toggle graphics in-game" mechanism amusing and perfectly respectable. Heck, it does take a good mindset, for developers, to add this option to their remakes, not many do that, it does deserve some recognition.

Also, concerning "Outlaws", let's also sneakily point out that, as an italian, you should be sensitive to the blatant hommage to Sergio that this whole game is. Visually, narratively, and musically.

I adored that game for that, as a kid. Now, I do find the soundtrack verging a bit too much on rip-off territory (there are versions of Morricone tunes with just some inverted notes that feel a bit too much of a "how much can we re-use without being sued" test) to be totally at ease with it, but still, the intention behind is to make a totally Leone-inspired videogame. That games does feel like a love letter to my favorite film maker, at times...
This is just so awesome it isn't funny. Who would have thought... Disney of all companies would embrace the future of gaming -- DRM-free! I have to say, from the very first drop of games they did last year they pleasantly surprised me and made themselves a nice place on my list of consumer friendly companies, but each game drop they've done has only increased my fondness for the company. If I were to list all of the Lucasarts games that I really wanted to get as top tier items, they have _already_ released all of them here so I can feel nothing but thrilled about that. Then there was my second tier of "these would be nice too" and many of them are here now, as well as the "yeah, I wouldn't mind getting those too" category which is ever widening here.

It seems now like Disney has embraced DRM-free enough here on GOG that given enough time to do any development finessing to make it happen and enough time between game drops to build up suspense and make it interesting/exciting, that they are likely to eventually release every game they have the rights too here, probably the oldest classics first, moving up through the newer stuff which is probably the best approach to keep all of us old schoolers thrilled along the way. ;)

I'm pretty much adding every Disney release that comes here to my wishlist including both the ones I've anticipated and the ones I'm not personally interested in, with plans to buy them all eventually over time anyway just to support Disney for supporting DRM-free gaming, and us gamers who hold it in high regard. There are not a lot of big name companies out there who have embraced DRM-free in this manner, and so I for one want to shout "THANK YOU DISNEY" from the mountaintops.

The other cool thing about it though which some might or might not consider, is that a big name like Disney being here and bringing lots of old highly visible games here including those with very well known big name trademarks sends a message out to all of the other game shops out there too. Hopefully it can help act like a magnet to encourage other big studios/IP owners to embrace DRM-free gaming on GOG also, and not just for older titles but for newer ones as well.
Perfect, just perfect!

In some case I like it, like In Cave Story+, because it contains the same non-ported game and it has been well remade by the same dev.
Binding of Isaac Rebirth, instead, bugs me a bit about the different OST and the pixelated art.

I'm not that patriotic\fanatic to consider the author's nationality when dealing with creations and I usually prefer good side-references instead of blatant ripoffs.
Anyway.. that's still nice XD
(also, I love many Bajakian+Land +McConnell LA osts)
