So, this has been an interesting ride. Had really hoped Nacho would have popped up slightly earlier to answer my questions and maybe slip up, but I consider that unlikely anyway. Could theoretically wait until tomorrow morning, but wouldn't have a chance to properly parse and consider new posts, then, so I guess I'll have to make do with what I have now.

I learned quit a bit here. First of all that I should stop being so public about who I consider town, since they invariably get lynched. :(

I remember thinking the same near the end of D3, and that I thus really should ask Darko what his town-read of Trent was based upon - and then when I came home, Trent had already hammered Hunter, removing the option to do so. (That premature hammer was a pretty strong hit against Trent. However, Nacho hammered on D2 without ever giving JMich a chance to post at all, so those two things effectively balance out.)

I basically spent all of N3 preparing for the current situation. Killing Darko was just the most obvious move, and then Trent and Nacho both had me rather publicly as town, so it'd all come down to the newbie making the final decision. I've gone over scenarios so many times, swaying back and forth like a pair of elm trees dancing the mambo on a stormy night. At the end of the night, I was pretty much convinced that it had to be Nacho. And then Trent voted Nacho right out of the gate and claimed Bulletproof. The bulletproof claim I considered pretty damned Townie. 50% chance to get it wrong, after all! But the vote... wow, that was a lot of trust in me being town. I was sooo tempted to just go along with it and end it all. But no. Examine what you *know*, and then re-examine it.

I really like Trent's D3 play (except for the hammering), but strongly dislike D1. Nacho was far too absent on D3, but was very strong on D1, pushing everywhere, really working for town.

Both Trent and Nacho had suspect interactions with Drealmer, both of which can be seen as deliberate distancing. Trent's interaction started with a vote, and then fizzled out, but the vote never moved (nor got reinforced). Nacho's interaction started with strong pushes, were somewhat abandoned, turned into semi-defenses, and ended with an (invalid) vote.

Nacho kept on speculating on the meaning of things (like the JMich lynch) even when mostly absent. Trent didn't. That's probably just different play styles, and if I'm going to guess wrong, then it'll have been due to me picking the play style I - in my inexperience - consider most useful for town as more trustworthy.

Nacho is an extremely strong player. He really put Trent on defense today. But Trent never really worked to show which of Nacho's interactions had been scummy.

Darko read Trent as town. So did Nacho on D1. And Drealmer.
I don't recall anyone reading Nacho as town. Meanwhile there were scum-reads for him; but those were all based on his defense of me. And Drealmer 'defended' me before Nacho. I can't really see two scum, who know of each other that they're both scum, both buddying up to the newbie.

I, meanwhile, have been surprised at how accurate my reads have been all game long. I figured Hunter right from the start, and was all but certain about Brasas, Wyrm and Darko being town from relatively early on. Drealmer was the only one who really eluded me, and for that I blame him being moderator in the only game I've observed.
So I have my early hunch, versus putting some trust in Darko trusting Trent for unknown reasons, and possible Brasas seeing something wrong with Nacho (although rereading, he also was pinged by Trent).

My strong slant toward trusting Nacho over Trent above was mostly faked, wanting to see how Trent reacted, and if Nacho would maybe slip up due to overconfidence, where he hasn't due to pressure. Guess that didn't work out due to timing anymore.

@Trent: I don't know if your "at the point of not caring" post is real, or a (very well executed if so!) stance to convince me of your town-ness. I do apologize for my indecisiveness, and if I get it wrong, for doing so...

My time is up. Wish I'd had more tonight, but this has to be it. D1 decides for me.

Vote Trent
Nice scum game Nacho, you won it for sure.

Sorry trial but I am the one shot bulletproof and you just gave scum the win.
After a contentious back and forth between Shadow Smurf and Perky Smurf, Lawyer Smurf makes his determination:

Shadow must be the troll. Heck, even the name is suspicious!

As Trial leads a solemn and forlorn Trent to the Smurfmatic Smurfmotabulator, Perky lets out a giggle.

"What's that for?" asks Trial.
"Urrr, I'm just so happy that the Troll King will be pleas...I mean, uh, utterly devastated by we Smurfs coming out victorious. And we can just go on filching truffles that like, totally belong to us."
"Oh, come on. Can't you see that he's the troll? It's so obvious." pleads Trent, acting for certain like he's not feeling very smurfy at all.
"Well, I can see what you mean, but I made my decision. Yes, we're smurfing you into the Smurfmatic Smurfmotabulator. And I'm sure the results will be smurftastic!" insists Trial.

Reaching the device, Nacho forces Trent in, quite unsmurfily. "Now push the button!" insists Nacho, gleefully. A bit hesitant now, Trial nonetheless pushes the button.

At first nothing happens, but then in a bright flash of light, Trent disappears! Nacho emits a laugh - "I am the greatest! Surely now the Troll King will recognize my great victory, and me, Hwrrmmph, as the greatest of all his warriors!"

"So you're saying Trent was the real Smurf Village 1x Smurfproof Smurf?"
"Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying! Trent is gone, and he was Smurf Village 1x Smurfproof Smurf! And with him out of the way, our victory is complete! Stick that up your lalalala and smoke it!"

And then, slightly more composed, Nacho continues: "Now, if you'd be so kind as to hop into this sack, I'll be ferrying you off to the Cave of the Thing with No Name now."

"Is it far?" asks Trial.
"Not really, it's just a few hours away - across the Fetid Fens, through the Moist Marsh, and over Crusty Chasm to reach the Lake of Doom."
"So we've really lost, then?"
"Well, no. You've lost. TROLLS WIN!"

trentonlf: *sigh* I see you are believing Nacho.

gogtrial34987: I just don't understand why you decided to kill Darko rather than me last night. I had you as scum way back on D1, while Darko was the only one who actually trusted you. Did you really buy my end-of-D2 comment claiming Hunter and Nacho were my top targets?
Two guesses for why Trent killed Darko over you:

1) He eliminated you as a PR possibility, wanted to kill Darko just so he could pin me down as PR and stop me from confirming myself.
2) He thought that Darko was the more experienced player and thus was less likely to be impatient and hammer early.

Don't have time (surprise, surprise!), but small comments to the Observer thread:

Brasas - The outburst towards you was setting up for a discredit down the road; out of all players, I thought you had the best understanding of why I was scum (and thus figured it would probably be the hardest read to shake) - my plan for dealing with you was going to be hyperfocusing on the scum QT of Oakwood and saying that were biased against my playstyle and didn't know how to read me; that's where the swear words and overreacting would have came in.

Bler - Yes, I would have bussed drealmer if he wasn't the PR, probably. I'm less likely to bus fun scum partners and drealmer is definitely a fun scumpartner, but it's usually better to bus and try to carry on your own then risk leaving a smoking gun behind, so to speak.

Trent - The final day with you was a lot of fun! I thought you got too focused on responding to the PR thing - my hope with you was to get you to keep explaining something that you'd already explained so you weren't able to go on the offensive against me while I could build the case against you elsewhere - you certainly destroyed me with a few points, just think you should have pushed them more (the role name thing in particular was me setting you up for something stupid and then bailing last second, I think it looked terrible).

Trial - I thought you played a fantastic game, and I'm sorry that I wasn't as active in this game as I would have liked to be. I think you would have caught me fine with just a little more time; you did a great job at analysis, but I thought it was difficult for you to make the followup you needed with what little time you had. I thought that the reasons people were pushing you early were silly (still don't understand them, in fact), so my defense of you was genuine.

I didn't really agree with the Lift modkill and don't mind the addition of the SK but again it increases the swing factor in the game tenfold so it's probably not a design decision I'd make personally.

Drealmer - Good call on the Brasas kill, I think that was probably the game-winning move if there was one! I know that you don't think that hitting the jailkeeper was the right move there but if you got lynched D2 and brasas got a chance to block his top suspicion I'm pretty sure he would have blocked me and I'm pretty sure that would have been game over for team Troll (although there could have been some weird SK shenanigans that made me town for a while until Hunter flipped and then I'd be very probable scum again).

Thanks for the game bler; I thought the flavor was fantastic! I was only trolling when I said my first PM was too long and also thanks for putting up with constant trolling in general!

Well, the SK was supposed to be constrained by the RB and jailer, but they were the first two killed, so yeah, it became potentially swingier as a result of how those first two kills went.

I'm not sure in balance it's any worse than a few of the setups built into the matrix in terms of tipping towards one faction. C for example: town doc/tracker [+5 VT] vs. 2 goons?

Anyway, for winging something involving 10 players I thought it worked well enough.

The modkill could have gone either way.

Good game. Wasn't expecting this outcome going into D4, but we didn't do too bad. 2 non-town lynches, 1 no-lynch, 1 mislynch. Could have been worse.
Also note, the SK primarily had 2 shots as an offset to the BP if it came down to those two F2 - and a bit wonkily, if SK was jailed, he wouldn't lose a shot, but if he targeted a jailed target, he would.

I think I also had it such that he'd use a shot if SK/trolls both picked the same target. And he reverted to to Gargamel form on using the 2nd and didn't win vs. anybody 1v1 without a kill in pocket. So aside from moderate chance of wasting a shot, the second really had to be saved for the end.

So you're up next.....

Ready??
ohhh wow

that was fucking intense

TRENT, man! can I give you a hug? that was fucking brutally fought and you did awesome, I am so glad you are here playing! That performance was superb, I know you were exhausted and then you got hit with stuff to end it all, but, I love you are here. I hope you are well. Next when you can and have the energy. BRAM. BRING IT!

Seriously, woaia;ljfa;ldka!@!! *bowed and deferring handshake at the least*

nacho!! also way to bring it!!! I soooo wanted to be your cheerleader and type you things in scum chat to urge you on. I would have been your smurffette, every Night, man! was fun scumming with you, even though we didn't quite see the game eye-to-eye, we both did our best and it paid off. That N1 JK kill was a crucial move (not the winning move, but crucial), but when you stepped it up you stepped it up and tahnkee thankee for kicking the game's butt! - I hope you come play town with me soon.

Seriously, those who say not go with the gut, don't have a healthy gut. MINE IS PRIME. That was all gut. I reached down into the darkness of my gut and felt around the mushmush and, boom, yep, brasas was the move. Brasas, our meeting in the night will be fondly remember for all time. I can't wait to be scum with you, btw. Let's not bus each other though, okay?

All the right moves I think I ever make in mafia are gut moves. Sure, backed up by brain, but, lead by gut (not lead-gut though!)

hmmm, what else?? hmmm

OHYA... BLERMAN!!! YOU BASTARD!! That was a lot of awesome flavor! That is how you make mafia great. Fucking randomized matrix +1 and, FLAVORIZE and, yeah, very well done!!! TROLLBLOCKER, fucking alltime classic, man! Sucks you got pooped on the flavor, there's always coming back to it. I got pooped a bit on my flavor too (gee!) but I will just build on it for next time!

gogtrial, don't be hard on yourself if you are at all, of course - that's the game, of course, you did an awesome job!!! You better play more!

oh hey I should probably go read all the post-game comments instead of just make my own

*goes to read*

Sorry town! And thanks to all of you for a very fun game! Will definitely be back for more (if possibly not directly in the very next game, because wow, this stuff is sure gobbling up a lot of time!)

Will comment more tonight once I've had time to read observer chat and sort out some thoughts.
