So, this has been an interesting ride. Had really hoped Nacho would have popped up slightly earlier to answer my questions and maybe slip up, but I consider that unlikely anyway. Could theoretically wait until tomorrow morning, but wouldn't have a chance to properly parse and consider new posts, then, so I guess I'll have to make do with what I have now.
I learned quit a bit here. First of all that I should stop being so public about who I consider town, since they invariably get lynched. :(
I remember thinking the same near the end of D3, and that I thus really should ask Darko what his town-read of Trent was based upon - and then when I came home, Trent had already hammered Hunter, removing the option to do so. (That premature hammer was a pretty strong hit against Trent. However, Nacho hammered on D2 without ever giving JMich a chance to post at all, so those two things effectively balance out.)
I basically spent all of N3 preparing for the current situation. Killing Darko was just the most obvious move, and then Trent and Nacho both had me rather publicly as town, so it'd all come down to the newbie making the final decision. I've gone over scenarios so many times, swaying back and forth like a pair of elm trees dancing the mambo on a stormy night. At the end of the night, I was pretty much convinced that it had to be Nacho. And then Trent voted Nacho right out of the gate and claimed Bulletproof. The bulletproof claim I considered pretty damned Townie. 50% chance to get it wrong, after all! But the vote... wow, that was a lot of trust in me being town. I was sooo tempted to just go along with it and end it all. But no. Examine what you *know*, and then re-examine it.
I really like Trent's D3 play (except for the hammering), but strongly dislike D1. Nacho was far too absent on D3, but was very strong on D1, pushing everywhere, really working for town.
Both Trent and Nacho had suspect interactions with Drealmer, both of which can be seen as deliberate distancing. Trent's interaction started with a vote, and then fizzled out, but the vote never moved (nor got reinforced). Nacho's interaction started with strong pushes, were somewhat abandoned, turned into semi-defenses, and ended with an (invalid) vote.
Nacho kept on speculating on the meaning of things (like the JMich lynch) even when mostly absent. Trent didn't. That's probably just different play styles, and if I'm going to guess wrong, then it'll have been due to me picking the play style I - in my inexperience - consider most useful for town as more trustworthy.
Nacho is an extremely strong player. He really put Trent on defense today. But Trent never really worked to show which of Nacho's interactions had been scummy.
Darko read Trent as town. So did Nacho on D1. And Drealmer.
I don't recall anyone reading Nacho as town. Meanwhile there were scum-reads for him; but those were all based on his defense of me. And Drealmer 'defended' me before Nacho. I can't really see two scum, who know of each other that they're both scum, both buddying up to the newbie.
I, meanwhile, have been surprised at how accurate my reads have been all game long. I figured Hunter right from the start, and was all but certain about Brasas, Wyrm and Darko being town from relatively early on. Drealmer was the only one who really eluded me, and for that I blame him being moderator in the only game I've observed.
So I have my early hunch, versus putting some trust in Darko trusting Trent for unknown reasons, and possible Brasas seeing something wrong with Nacho (although rereading, he also was pinged by Trent).
My strong slant toward trusting Nacho over Trent above was mostly faked, wanting to see how Trent reacted, and if Nacho would maybe slip up due to overconfidence, where he hasn't due to pressure. Guess that didn't work out due to timing anymore.
@Trent: I don't know if your "at the point of not caring" post is real, or a (very well executed if so!) stance to convince me of your town-ness. I do apologize for my indecisiveness, and if I get it wrong, for doing so...
My time is up. Wish I'd had more tonight, but this has to be it. D1 decides for me.
Vote Trent
