Joker looks like it is going to be refreshingly different from all the other current comic book movies. Phoenix will kill it in the role.
Does he get to kick back or what?
Looks... ok. Not bad, but doesn't blow me away. I hope it's a good movie and does ok financially. It seems like comic book movies are here to stay for quite a while yet, so we need them to be more than just giant CGI event films. We need them to take some risks, and that's only possible with smaller films that don't need to make a billion dollars to make a profit.
Cool!
Why do we keep seeing the same DC characters in movies?

DC characters I'd like to see movies about:

1. Saint Walker

2. Martian Manhunter

3. Black Manta

4. Sinestro/Sinestro Corps

5. Blue Beetle
I'd rather see The Jerker from Bat Babe: The Dark Nightie

TARFU: Why do we keep seeing the same DC characters in movies?
I think it's because lesser known characters are more difficult to market. I think the reason we have so many Jokers is because of how ambiguous he his. "Joker" is not a man's name. In the 1989 film he is Jack Napier. In this movie he is Arthur Fleck. We don't get that kind ambiguity with the other characters. Batman is Bruce Wayne. Superman is Clark Kent. There's no consensus of what Joker wants, who he was, or even what he looks like.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair right they made Aquaman, the butt of all superhero jokes ever, into their highest grossing movie. And just as Captain Marve... I mean Shazam is getting released.

Even if there's potentiall here for a solo film, we'd need at least a couple of Green Lantern films first to build the world and mythology for the Blue Lanterns.

TARFU: 2. Martian Manhunter
A Martian Manhunter movie could be awesome, especially if they'd make it a period piece. Sort like adapting the Manhunter part of New Frontier. Make it a cross between a crime noir film and a 50s B-grade sci-fi film.

TARFU: 3. Black Manta
Well, he's obviously going to be the big bad of Aquaman 2.

TARFU: 4. Sinestro/Sinestro Corps
That's why I always wished the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie got a seuqel. For all it's faults I still think it could have worked as a basis for better movies. Mark Strong was perfect as Sinestro, and that Sinestro Corps sequel they teased could have been great.

TARFU: 5. Blue Beetle
Only if it's a superhero buddy cop movie with the Ted Kord version of Beetle and Booster Gold. I don't really have any interest in the Jaime Reyes Beetle.

Me, I'd love to see a Green Arrow movie, one that actually gets Ollie right, not like that awful tv show. And I've always been a huge fan of the JSA, so I'd love to see them on the big screen, but I really doubt that will ever happen.

Black Adam should be cool
I really hope this nails the character of the joker.

Which considering you'd think there's only two bullet points, producers and writers would easily get, but it seems many of them are loonier than the Joker himself.

• He smiles. The Joker is not a dour sourpuss. He is full of the joy of chaos, and should be depicted as such.

• He jokes. It's in his name, but there are still some depictions that have him as a humorless anticlown. He's the Clown Prince of Crime.

Frank Miller infamously got both of these points entirely wrong. Of course, Frank Miller is also famously screwed up in the head, so no surprise there. (Check out a review of Holy Terror or ASBAR if you'd like confirmation.)

Probably not. Maybe later on disk or a stream. I mean I'm a DC fan. But I never really cared about a Joker one shot. Most likey would go if it where a Leto Joker movie which probably would connect it to the DCEU then.
Very impressive. The trailer actually has me hyped for it now.
I think it's been confirmed that the story is an origin story and a drama. So I'm afraid they'll spend 90% of the film showing me things going worse and worse for the Joker. Then he finally snaps, does something typical of the name Joker, unfortunately in a through away scene, and the movie ends. I'll still see it when it comes out, and hope to be proven wrong.

Don't forget about the pointless post credits stinger!
