emails bounce between a bunch of intermediaries in an an asynchronous fashion. could be your steam email has stopped at a relay somewhere. might have nothing to do with Valve.

hope so. i can use the steam client, works but pretty wonky when it needs me to login multiple times,
cant change password without the verification mail.
seems multiple users having similar issue.

well it must be Valve, then. probably the caching issue as well as this is the result of infrastructure changes going on internally. configuration and migrating issues are causing the new system to act strange before it's dialed in.

all that said I'm not Valve so I dunno.

It has been working fine for me in looking at the sale offers... maybe there are different Steam server problems for different countries?
There were problems with the store. Beside the more in-your-face cache problem, there were multiple instances when store or community features were down. Anyhow, the client worked every time, login servers were never down as far as i can tell.
For me, a few days ago, account was in Russian language and showed confidential account info of OTHERS! Also, store was messed up for many hours and wouldn't display anything other than the front page, daily highlighted titles.

I don't think a DDOs is the case. Some pranksters with skills, most likely. But i worry not. I have technically gifted my account to nephew anyway and logged in to preorder in it the game i promised him for new year's, so you pretty much can guess where i "write down" steam itself as a service, or the client-bound, DRM-Ridden games that they bribe people with extremely cheap prices with for them in order to buy.

Steam has been giving me a lot of problems lately. I guess it is just people fucking with Steam late December, as usual for "LOL"s. Fucking assholes.

From what they said in their 3-words declaration, it was all them, no outsider interfered with their servers, and i tend to believe that. In a case of DDoS, there is no reason for the servers and cache to get scrambled up, in worst case scenario, servers simply go down.

It's a shame that they didn't come up with an apology for the incident yet. From now on, it will be too late. They really need to work on their support and communication.

Oh well, when you have the power and influence, you tend to forget all those little thingies.
Steam is up and running with no issues currently.

It's more of an compromise from them. It always was. They offer a lot of other things, but they don't have hand-holding support like EA have, for example. But it's explicable, when your games disappear from your Origin account, there's nothing that another use can do to help you. But if you can't run a game on Steam, you often find yourself finding the answers on discussion boards, as there are so many users and a lot of them have the solution.
But this thing that happened now it's pretty serious. They are most likely staying back from doing any kind of declarations until those are reviewed very well by their PR department and lawyers. They risk a lot of legal actions due to their mistake.
What's Steam?

A Steam is a rare and highly regarded delicacy, especially in northern Korean cultures.
