Microsoft is trying to buy Activision/Blizzard. I can't seem to find my Tony Hawk Pro Skater pc disks, so maybe I can get digital copies that are prepatched for modern os through GoG. I am pretty sure I have heard that Activision didn't like working with GoG. Is Microsoft likely to offer older properties on GoG now? Everyone seems to assume their main goal was to get a large back catalogue for that xbox game streaming service, or something nefarious with CoD. They'd also be getting a lot of old pc games, like Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1&2, Mat Hoffman Pro BMX, possibly the snowboard and surfboard games from that series if there was a pc port, none but the skating games has been touched in years, plus tons of non "Pro X" pc games. Any chance they might dump old properties off at GoG headquarters, or even at MSN Gaming, although that doesn't seem to have a no activation login, offline download, mode anymore.

I'm just asking, as I heard Activision wasn't a fan, is Microsoft suspected of being any better?

Activision as recently as last fall gave us a bunch of Star Trek games, and have brought a large chunk of their back catalog to GOG already. Microsoft was one of the 'big four' companies GOG has been trying to sign on since its inception, and the only one of those 4 never to do so. So no, Activision is much more likely to bring a game here than Microsoft is.

I doubt it. They've had 14 years to bring Age of Empires, Freelancer, etc, here and haven't bothered even once.

MicroSoft has video games that they publish sold here on gog.com, just indie video games for now.

Dust: An Elysian Tail is published by MicroSoft. If you search Dust: An Elysian Tail it is now published under Xbox Game Studios on Steam changed from MicroSoft Game Studios.

Also Phil Spencer mentioned gog.com like in 2019 that he likes it.

I don't think so. Their game pass nets them more than enough.
No, Activision-Blizzard, despite being a shit company, actually would release some things here now and again.

Microsoft does not. Microsoft *hates* gaming in general, but especially gaming that is distributed in models other than their own. They more than anyone want a "one store" idea, and preferably want that store to be a subscription service.

Phil Spencer said in 2019 that he likes gog.com.

Also MicroSoft publishes Dust: An Elysian Tail, which is sold here on gog.com.

I have to repeat that Dust: An Elysian Tale is a MicroSoft published video game just search it up on Steam, they recently changed their publishing name too from MicroSoft Studios to Xbox Game Studios on Steam.

I think once MicroSoft officially starts selling more of their video games on gog.com, gog.com will put Xbox Game Studios under publisher for Dust: An Elysian Tale.

That is the only reason why I think MicroSoft Studios or Xbox Game Studios is not even mentioned on gog.com yet.
There are several threads on this already! M$ will not sell games here, they have their own store!

Ubisoft has its own store and sells also on Epic and GOG. EA has its own store and sells also on Steam and GOG. Bethesda has its own store and their acquisition by Microsoft didn't stop them to sell on Steam as well. One doesn't exclude the other. I doubt however that Phil Spencer makes direct decisions about selling or not selling games on a specific platform.

Johnathanamz: Dust
Dust is NOT published by Microsoft on GOG. https://www.gog.com/forum/general_archive/release_dust_an_elysian_tail/post62

EDIT: updated link to specific post.

That is because MicroSoft is not officially selling their video games on gog.com, so gog.com does not have the MicroSoft Studios or Xbox Game Studios tag on their store anywhere.

Dust: An Elysian Tale is officially published by MicroSoft though.

This is becoming frustrating. You're wrong. Entirely.

Dust is 100% SELF-PUBLISHED on GOG, by the person who made the game. Not Microsoft. Microsoft's contract with them is only for distribution on other platforms. Microsoft had absolutely nothing to do with Dust being here.

There are some [other] MS-owned [actually owned] games on GOG, but their existence here predates MS acquiring their creators.

Actually you are wrong here.

All the way back in 2013 when Dust: An Elysian Tale released for sale I read that MicroSoft gave the Dust: An Elysian Tale video game developer a contract, where he won the recognition from MicroSoft.

Also MicroSoft giving them the contract to distribute on other platforms, you know makes MicroSoft the holder of it.

Here is just a little bit of some proof from this website.

cecat.biz/p/microsoft/7d6-00003/video+games-dust-+an+elysian+tail+xbox+360-37002157.html

Just go and read that website.

If you are going to continue to disagree then all we have to do is to agree to disagree then.
The other way around; Less likely. At least, till Microsoft considers GOG seriously and not just another store for Psychonauts 2.
