Lifthrasil: Well, for starters I would recommend getting a flat and some food, so you don't have to live ON your laptop any more!
He probably just means he was shrunk down to mouse-size (or smaller) by the shrink ray he was developing, and is now stuck on top of his computer. Although, if this is the case, posting in a game forum seems a weird way to get help. Kudos to him for figuring out a way to type out posts, though, I guess.

I will second FTL. One of the great games. Also, lots of the TBS are good. You could do:

Expeditions: Conquistador
The Shadowrun Games
Neo Scavenger
Age of Wonders (the first one)
To The Moon
Imperialism
Imperialism 2
King of Dragon Pass
The Banner Saga

I don't think any of those should be too tough on your laptop.

Download D-Fend Reloaded and get yourself God of Thunder and Major Stryker. They're both freeware. :)

Recently I've been playing a lot Sonic, Sega Genesis, Tomb Raider And Legacy of Kain games (Dreamcast/PS2 era stuff plays great on my machine)
