Get ready, because the GOG community's most anticipated (?!) event is about to return, with some new features and the use of new cutting-edge technology.

This year the voting will be divided into two parts, a first part will allow the nomination of 5 games each, which will then compete for victory in the final vote.

Voting will be via a link to a dedicated site, which does not require accounts, but should prevent multiple votes from the same IP (be good and don't cheat please).

This way I hope we can involve other bangs of the GOG community, such as the one on Discord or Reddit, and increase the number of votes.


NOMINATIONS RULES:

1. Each GOG user can vote for up to 5 games at the link that appears in each respective category.

2. In the sub-categories, while containing the list of all games released in 2024 for simplicity's sake, only the votes of the games in those categories will count. Example: Someone might vote God of War as best indie, but those votes will then be excluded.

3. If there are fewer than 5 games in a category, the winner will be decided by the first round of voting.

4. The top 5 highest rated games in each category will then be up for final voting to determine the winners!

With high profile launches like Stalker 2, Talos Principle 2 and Metal Gear Rising, perhaps in a alternate universe the best game would go for Songs of Conquest or Slay the Princess.

I'm wondering about the genre categories, why pick specifically those? And including that quite specific boomer shooter category but no best RPG, best platformer or, considering the sheer number of them, best roguelike?
Also wonder if the early access titles shouldn't be put separately. You listed those that left EA this year separately and maybe that should be a voting category on its own, and the same would go for those launched as EA.
And that 7-year threshold for old game still strikes me as odd. And, either way, there may be room for a best classic (pre-2000)?
On another note, this made me think of the possibility of a best game delisted in 2024 vote too.
But all of these would be more work for you and the endeavor looks daunting as it is.
