It'd be nice if there was some way to see the special discounts after opening the cookies in one place instead of having to remember, re-click through, or buy right then. Either on the website or in galaxy.
More clicking = less buying.
Why have they started doing this email discount crap? Is it because there are so many sales always ongoing that they need to find new and inventive ways to push these “sales”? Is the time of pushing a product for what it’s worth so long gone? Do you remember the days whereby a developer would strive to produce one and true full game, and then sell it for given amount. A time before this fakery, double dealing, con artistry?
I don't get this 'hidden discount' stuff either. For once one of the games available actually interested me, and as I went through the process I realized that I wanted to include another purchase from my wish list, so I backed out and added the other game to my cart... only to realize that I couldn't lump the two purchases, and now I can't use the hidden discount because the code counts as being 'used'.

And now that I've lost the code, I see no reason to make the other purchase either. So instead of GOG enticing me with a sale, they lost a sale.

The whole process of the hidden discounts consists of needless, convoluted extra steps that seems to deter potential purchases rather than encourage them. I guess they are some hamfisted attempt at targeted advertising or telemetry acquisition, but at point I'll just leave them well alone.
Mine never even loaded. I click and just get redirected to an empty redemption screen. No codes.
I like the emails. I think they're fun. The process and mechanics of how they work thought with the clicking around and locked shopping cards is bleh.

Same here. I sort of decided on Thea 2 and the adventure game collection, except I opened a bunch of other cookies/tabs/windows, tried to add more stuff to purchase, realized I couldn't, so I finished a standalone order in the meantime, and only got back to those two fortune cookie games later – and by then the codes have expired. Maybe support would reactivate them somehow but it just seems like such an unnecessary hassle.

I don't mind the overall idea, but the mechanic is rather ridiculous. I did notice the warning label, and I actually wanted to abide by it and finish the purchase... only I couldn't. Just make the process simpler so the codes don't expire and you don't need a warning either.
I'm not even getting emails off them anymore so I'm not getting any codes anyway. Emailed support diring the winter sale and they still haven't fixed it.

I think my code is still active. Send me a PM, if you'd like to use it.
The same regarding the rest of them. I only used the one for Animation Arts Collection.
I gave up after checking 3. Interesting concept but having to go trough a captcha check every link is a waste of time.
I like the mails and don't mind some additional clicks to get the discounts (which are sometimes very good).

It would be nice to be able to see what the discount is for, before going through the entire process of unblocking google everywhere just to be able to activate the captcha, though.

Especially:
Phantom Doctrine...80% off the normal price isn't too shabby (and it doesn't seem to be on sale otherwise - contrary to the other special discounts).
And Animation Arts Collection...85% off instead of the "normal" 80% off is also a great deal.
Is there a list of the discounts?
I don't want to risk locking them just for checking..

I think it's less the quantity of sales and more the quality of them. Eg, I'm sure I read that some people were getting some -75-85% off e-mail discount codes for Planescape Torment: EE at the end of last year. Of course the fact the normal discounts used to be -75% off anyway before they were reduced to 66% then 50% (and for last Winter Sale all the way down to -30%) was omitted... I love GOG, but I'd rather they just put in decent normal sale discounts without any gimmicks that add the number of hoops you need to jump through, especially anything that involves those stupid "captcha" things.
