Crosmando: Combat looks button-mash-y as shit
It can be, but like Devil may Cry, you're rewarded for precision. Timing blows perfectly deals more damage and has a higher chance to stagger opponents. Using the proper techniques at the right time, dodging and striking at the back of your opponent, perfect blocking (fighter and Mage Knight classes) are all facets that will take you farther than "Mash X to win." Many lighter battles can be easily finished by mashing X. But if you're ever having difficulty with a fight, timing your strikes and using the right combination of skills (as well as a higher leveled pawn or 2) will get you through some of the tougher fights.
I am beyond stupid-happy-excited this game came out on PC b/c it is such an amazing experience and everyone should have a chance to play it, even pc snobs ;)

I just wish my PC could handle it :( if so, I'd be playing it right now.

here is a pic of my main and pawn, Luthien and Beren. this pawn community is very fun too by the way :)

OH! is the PC like the consoles too, where you can only make one main?

CharlesGrey: Played it back on PS3. I'd describe it as a blend between old-school RPGs such as the Elder Scrolls games ( open game world with many towns, NPCs and quests ) and modern Action-RPGs such as Dark Souls ( fast-paced and challenging combat against various XXL-sized creatures ), with some of the best elements from both. It's not flawless by any means, but they got a lot of things right. I really liked how they managed to create a convincing Medieval ( Fantasy ) setting, with careful attention to all sorts of subtle details. Aside from CDPR ( The Witcher ), most developers fail to achieve this. It's also surprisingly complex for a console RPG.
So does it have the exploration elements of Elder Scrolls games, where you can just go off in a random direction and explore caves etc ignoring quests? Or are you kind of expected to take on and complete quests to actually have a fun experience?

It's been a while since I played, so someone else could probably give a more accurate answer, but I remember there were many hidden stashes of loot all over the game world. And you can always go out and hunt some monsters, to sell their trophies or use them as crafting material. Of course the most effective way to play, is to accept a quest or two and then do some exploration along the way to your quest destination. In any case, there's a lot of things to do and discover in the game world, aside from the main storyline.
