Dear GOG,

I've been using your services for YEARS. It's been great. Lately however, your DOWNLOAD TIMES
have become interminable. LOOOOOOONG. UNACCEPTABLY LONG.
Over 3 hours to download Horizon Zero Dawn. I can likely get that downloaded
on Steam in less than 20 minutes.
Let me state this plainly: YOU WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS If you don't fix this.

Open a support ticket, if you haven't already.

My download speed has always been excellent. There are some troubleshooting steps you could do, but I get the impression you're not interested.

I don't mind the time spent for a download, what I do mind is (as I've seen stated by others in different threads) the downloads "broken in pieces". That is I would prefer if all files in a game were in a single file and not in 4GB files. This way I could leave the PC downloading all night for the bigger games and not having to wait until each of the 4GB files completes, to manually start the next.
My speed is 18 minutes for a 4GB file, so waiting to download even a handful of these, is really a chore.

There is definitely some ongoing Issue GOG has with download speeds, specially outside of Europe.

Given the erratic pattern of who and where individuals are effected I strongly suspect the issue lies with ISPs downgrading traffic to GOG servers, flagging it as file sharing or given lower priority to services such as Steam.

Of course that doesn't help you and its not an issue you should have to deal with, but it does make it harder for GOG to fix the issue as its not something they have direct control over.

I get maximum throughput, if I use Galaxy. If I download from the website, I only get about 6 megs per second.

Use Galaxy to download offline installers. It acts like a single download, but you get all the parts. (Alternately, switch to Mac and/or Linux, that way you don't have to deal with multiple parts at all.)

You can start all of them if you want, you don't have to wait between each file

I've downloaded games from GOG in recent days and the download times have been super fast for me.

I'd be more in favour of that if the GoG Downloader was reintroduced and had inbuilt error checking. I don't fancy having to download the 80gb of Witcher 3 in a single file, running the risk of a dropped connection or corruption causing me to have to start again. Isn't the installer >40GB? I mean, you've probably got gigabit internet or something like that, but 3 hours for a game that size doesn't seem unacceptable to me.

72GB, so it's going to take a little while even with a fast Internet access and a fast server for the delivery.

HZD has neither Linux nor Mac build. Same as majority games at GOG. How is that alternative in this scenario?

On Linux you can use lgogdownloader (great tool by the way) to download the 19 parts (ouch!) of the installer unattended. Here I call that from a script every night to download all my GOG installers that got updated since the previous day.

No need for GOG Galaxy and it so-called "convenience".

Took you three hours to download HZD, you posted this thread 5 hours ago complaining about it but have 100 hours of game time two years ago?

I use it as well but don't think eric5h5 meant that. Besides there are similar tools for windows too, gogrepo.py for example.

I find your over use of capital letters unacceptable. I have been viewing your posts for years. Lately however there are too many capital letters. It's become untenable

Over 10 words all in caps. I could likely view a post from another user and easily find less that 5 words all in capitals.

Let me state plainly to you in a way you can understand: WRITING IN ALL CAPS MAKES YOU LOOK 4 YEARS OLD.
You will lose views, respect, (starting with me) and eventually the use of your Shift and or Caps Lock keys.
