When I saw there were some some 2K games on promotion today, I thought we were in, but it seems they were just part of the Make Classics Last Forever sale.

GOG community expects.
I'm keeping an eye on it, perhaps GOG will gimme some more to report on.

Just play Old World. It's everything you might want and more. (It's even led by Soren, one of the people who made Civ what it became.)

I'd still get and play (and almost certainly be disappointed by) Civ5 should they bother to release it. But, eh, Take Two is worse than most when it comes to going DRM-free.

I'd guess 2K and/or Firaxis would need to take all of the Steamworks integration and then re-work the game to move all of those features over to Galaxy. That will cost time, $, resources, effort, and whatnot - and who knows how this version will sell on GOG here, since it don't do #'s and move units normally like Steam or Epic would.

So, yeah - who knows if this'll come to GOG.

Your guess is as good as mine here.

Would love to see it hit GOG though.

I want to second this post and upvote.
I don't think we're missing anything; given that most have said that Civ V and VI are drastically simplified to the point of being absurb.

But hey, if you want Civ V, spin around 3 times and click this github link.
Civ 1&2 in a nice packet, yes? I hear they are much easier to get working on modern Windows nowadays.

Old world is surely the best "Civ clone" ever that is going its own way in such a unique way that it can be considered "a alternate Civ" with comparable quality. Indeed, there is some true Civ veterans involved into Old World, so it is no wonder it became the best competitor to Civ ever. If you enjoy Civ but you do not want to play Civ... Old world is probably the only competitor able to be on par with this. However, i think it is more complicated and not so "easy going"; for those looking for a challenge.

The release of Civ 5 i consider realistic, yet it may still take a good while.

Here comes the Hype Train
I usually assume when a publisher has released on GOG before but doesn't release newer games it's because they don't want to bother removing Steamworks. Hope it happens someday though.
They had to use Steamworks in order to make it run? Ooops...

I would say nothing if they "had to use the Unreal 5 Engine" but Steamworks? No way!
Many people consider Civ 4 better as they thought Civ 5 got dumbed down
I know no bad Civ, however, Civ 1 can be avoided because Civ 2 was basically "a advanced Civ 1" and Civ 6 can be avoided because it is somewhat a worse Civ 5 with a bit more non required graphical muscles. All the other Civ are great but GoG is still lacking Civ 2 and Civ 5 (from the great ones).

I think "Old World" deserves a way bigger audience but it simply does not have the powerful image from Civ, so it kinda is being turned down by the mainstream. Considering graphics, Old World is more spicy than every Civ ever... however, i wish you could zoom in a bit more.

And actually, graphically i think Civ 5 is even better than Civ 6. I dunno what was happening with Civ 6 but apparently they had in mind "their name is that big... no need to invest to much ressources anymore, it will sell automatically".

I'd love to see Civ1 here. Despite its age and shortcomings I think many of the later games in the series lacked some of its original charm.
Like those animations of Sid Meier himself presenting the Advances or the scenes of the rival leaders and their entourage during diplomacy. And I admit I'm one of those who sorely misses the "City View" screen, which was dropped after Civ3.
The PSX-Version of Civ 2 was supreme, because it was kinda combining Civ 1 and Civ 2 inside the same game, You simply feel the huge work they was executing there. However, the PSX hardware was to weak to handle it so it was going to run very slow at some point. This was one of the first games that really made my heart bloom; simply real stuff, real quality and essence.

But indeed... from the other Civs... Civ 4 was my second favorite. Yet i still would enjoy Civ 5.

The worst was Civ 6... guess because they lost some valuable people and kinda was diving into a "dark time" of anarchy,
