Crosmando: I watched a series of mini-movies/episodes called Kara no Kyoukai' (Boundary of Empiness) about a year ago now, which surprisingly is like the only anime I've truly thought was 'great' in a pure sense of the word.

NrlnDrgn: I'm surprised no one has mentioned Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, only watch the ADV VERSION the other dubs were heavily censored, or any Mobile Suit Gundam series yet, my personal favorite is Mobile Fighter G Gundam. Though I would recommend seeing the older series' full seasons and not the compilation films. Rozen Maiden is a good fantasy style anime. For comedy, The World God Only Knows is quite funny, K-On! is also good and Azumanga Daioh.
I'd heard bad things about G Gundam, or was that Gundam 00? I stopped following after Gundam SEED, it being something of a disappointment compared to Gundam Wing.

Well, I have not seen 00 yet, but G is not a typical Gundam series, in other words (almost) everyone lives. Of course, once you remember that it's a super robot series.

Well, I think that if you've seen at least one Gundam, you've seen them all. All subsequent Gundams tend to let me down after the first one I watched. I tried getting into Wing after SEED (a few times at least) and it was kinda meh. Though if I think about it, they're not that different. Music was obviously better for me in SEED. 00 being the first for someone might look good. That's my thought anyway.

I'm extremely surprised no one mentioned it, I just finished season 1 and Gaiden, they're both amazing, definitely my 3rd favourite anime, though I still have season 2 left to watch. Assuming you've finished both season 1 and 2, is 2 better than the first season?

I'll be honest. Season 1 trumps 2 in a major way. That doesn't mean that 2 is bad, just that it sort of felt less DtB to me. I'm getting ready to rewatch it though, so I can give you fresher impressions soon!

Well, season 2 is entirely optional, imo. It is worse than original one and though it is a sequel, DtB feels incomplete even after watching it. You know, that feeeling, when there's still more to know and to see, but manga/novel haven't been finished yet or creators have just exhausted their ideas. It's not bad though. Just left me feeling that it could have been better and didn't provide all the answers or proper conclusion. It would be great to see this universe expanded in a sequel. BONES is a good studio, I'm sure they could do another good DtB show.
Scrapped Princess is another good work of this studio in a different genre (fantasy).
