Gede: I would like to read some opinions regarding the new AMD Wraith Coolers. How silent are they on your setup?
I have put a Noctua NH-U12S SE-AM4 on the CPU. The temperatures are on average at 65°C (45 to 75°C, with a peak of 78°C) and always stay below 80°C. All without manual overclocking, only with the AMD automatic overclocking to 3500 MHz for the 1700X which it can hold without problems or throttling.
I am not a fan of boxed coolers like the Wraith and I did especially not want a top blower again, like the current AMD boxed coolers all are. Top blowers seem to be inferior for the overall cooling concept of the case in my opinion.

Nevertheless, from what I read, the current Wraith coolers seem to be good coolers concerning silence and cooling for the additional money they cost compared to a blank CPU. They should reach similar cooling results as the Noctua I use, maybe 5-10°C worse and a bit louder, always depending on the rest of the systems cooling of course. Anyway, I think you get a decent medium-range cooler for the price of an low-end cooler with them. They also have an LED ring if that matters to you, but personally I would switch that off anyway.

Maybe somebody here has one of the boxed versions running and can add an direct experience.

Images of the RX580/RX570 boxes, showing speeds.
Quite a boost from RX480s (mine is 1288 un-OCd).

Someone got their mitts on an RX580 & is already bench testing it.

You can buy just the CPU?
has anyone found out if AMD will be releasing yearly updates like intel does to it's cpu's? Cause I seen an AMA that toms hardware did and not one single soul mentioned this but easy low ball questions, I have that odd gut feeling that we wont be getting refreshes for maybe 2 to 3 years like the bulldozer lineup a while back.

for now my 1800x is loving 3.9 but wont go anything above 4ghz... I hope my motherboard from asus gets a bios update to maybe fix it. but man this little thing can multitask like a whore! love it <3

AMD is already working on Ryzen 2 and Ryzen 3. I think that Ryzen 2 is expected to be brought to market sometime in 2018. However, schedules can slip, and AMD won't commit to a release date.
I can see multiple reasons for not speaking about it officially, namely, they don't want people to wait for the next version, and they may find some nasty surprises during the production.
Ryzen looks promising, but I already had been burnt with Bulldozer. Who knows, maybe AMD will again deside that the future is the "heterogenous computing" and will butcher CPU line in favour of some piss-poor APUs with usless (on Linux at least) graphics accelerators. At least now we are protected from incompatible "FM3" sockets with AM4 being multi-purpose.

Of course you can. Often also referred to as tray version rather than a boxed version. Although I have bought a boxed version of the 1700X without cooler, but I think the 1800X and 1700X all come without cooler fan anyway, only the 1700 of the R7s is paired with the big Wraith coolers.
Radeon RX Vega Final Model and Packaging Spotted in AMD Chinese Ad Campaign.

Specs-wise, we are looking at the following:

14nm Vega 10 GPU

4096 stream processors
64 NCUs (Next Compute Units)
2048-bit memory bus
8 GB HBM2
512GB/s Memory Bandwidth
PCIe Gen 3 x 16
225W TDP

Oh, also lighting.....on the gfx card box lol.

The Radeon RX Vega card itself will be coming in a rather slick black, red and silver box, complete with LED lighting on the box itself.

Those specs look interesting, almost double the stream processors of the RX480.

Oh, I remember seeing that "tray" version being mentioned in stores many years ago. I wondered if they came out on cheap plastic trays with some 30 CPUs for lower cost of transportation. Why are the called "trays"?

That's it!

Remember the debacle over the RX480 4gb versions having 8gb that you could unlock?

AMD's done it again, sort of.

The RX580s are altered (slightly) RX480s.
Someone's flashed their RX480 to an RX580 :D

Yeah, it seems the 500 series is mainly a firmware update plus more power intake added but should not the graphics card discussion have its own thread so those interested can find it more easily?

Perhaps, but too much effort for so little news ;)

Perhaps once Vega is released.

Sure is some truth in your words.
