Not in, but thanks a lot for this giveaway!
Art through the centuries presents us with so many grwat depictions of saints... here are some that came to my mind.
A nice St Jerome by Ghirlandaio, from the church of Ognissanti (= All Saints) in Florence:

Here's a striking St John the Baptist by Ercole De Roberti, which left a deep impression on me when I saw it in person at an exhibition:

Finally, sculpture... can't go wrong with the famous St George by Donatello:

My backlog is large enough already, so I am not taking the risk of making it even bigger ;-),
but I cannot skip the possibility of posting an image of a statue of Saint Bartholomew in Milan Cathedral - a flayed martyr casually holding his own skin like a coat.

Hi everyone!

Contest is over, I've made a draw via ohmyluck page and here are the winners:

Clairsentient - Inkulinati+Medieval Battlefields
drxenija - Inkulinati
DiffuseReflection - Inkulinati

Congratulations for the winners and huge thanks for every participant!

I've got a bit busy Saturday, hence I will post the entry depictions sent by participants (referring to those via PMs, because some entries were made in the topic, of course everyone was on the list during draw) a bit later, but I would like to thank you all, as I could learn (and even experience) from some really inspiring and interesting entries
.
A bit late, but I've collected the entries sent on PM and put them together under this link:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/10I8n2ZLfoAmkFjidUy-2YFPVkMrfP0Wamo6FIefoKRw/edit?usp=sharing

I didn't mention here user's nicks, only entries themselves, but if by any chance you wish to make your nick "associated" with the entry, please go ahead and let me know (or write in the topic).

I will only reveal, that winners entries were depicting Saint Francis of Assissi, Joan of Arc and Holy Spirit (Yes, I know, Holy Spirit is not a Saint but someone "on higher level", but I couldn't force myself to deny the entry).

Couple of notes at the end:

1.Once again - congratulations for winners and big thank you for all participants.
2.There was one entry for which user mentioned he is not participating, but I've put it on the list as well.
3.Technical thing - the idea of contest was to propose the depiction of the Saint - there were entries with mentioning mainly Saint himself/herself (plus short article about the Saint), but I accepted those entries as well. It's the first contest I've hosted and I decided that I treated the linked article as depiction (in form of introducing Saint's life).
4.There were two entries, that I've realized, that have "missed" the topic. For one of them I realized it after the fact, for other I've noticed from the beginning. Those two users still participated in the draw as well, but I didn't include those entries on the linked document.

And final words - I genuinly like the variety of entries. There were for sure some genuinly surprising (like entry with St. Agatha) and also those probably well known, but still highly appreciated (e.g. Caravaggio's Painting).

And I admit, I will try next time to be more assertive and let know participant, if entry doesn't qualify to the topic of contest.

If participants are interested, I would like to ask you following questions (if you prefer, you can PM me those answers:

1.Do you think that contest should be based on lottery? Or maybe it should be "judged" based on the how interesting entry was?
2.Do you like the idea with rewards from this contest? Or maybe you think that they should be more "differenciated" (e.g. different set of rewards for second and third place)?
3.Do you like the idea of "theme-based" contest? Or maybe not? (why yes/why not)?

Congrats to our lucky trio! And thank you, MartiusR, for hosting an interesting giveaway! :)

1.Do you think that contest should be based on lottery? Or maybe it should be "judged" based on the how interesting entry was?
> Contests should always be based on fun. ;) Both approaches work, I've no personal preference.

2.Do you like the idea with rewards from this contest? Or maybe you think that they should be more "differenciated" (e.g. different set of rewards for second and third place)?
> Your choice of prizes/rewards were great! And the fact that dev, Ryszard, contributed an extra game code made the pool of rewards all the more awesome.

3.Do you like the idea of "theme-based" contest? Or maybe not? (why yes/why not)?
> Theme-based, puzzle-based, arena fight-club-based... I find that creative contests are the most memorable and even if no prize has been won, we remember the fun experience we had! :)

1. I find it hard to give a clear-cut answer... on the one hand, awarding the prize on the merit of how "interesting" or "creative" an entry is makes you feel the prize was "earned", and therefore went to the right person. On the other hand, a simple lottery removes any potential bias, and makes winning absolutely impartial and, therefore, more "equitable"...
2. Well, it depends... the more prizes can be awarded to the greater number of contestants, the better, obviously, but it all hinges upon what the giveaway host can afford, really. Personally I like a varied selection of prizes for different rankings, if possible.
3. Yes, I like it; I think if there's some underlying theme, or activity required, especially a very original, inventive one, the giveaway is more fun and memorable than a simple draw. But it needs work, of course...

Thank you for the Inspirational giveaway, and lottery is quickest.
Rewards fit well and theme-based or puzzle giveaways are more engaging and give a game higher values and another level to the event.

My entry was Saint Gertrude of Nivelles.

She is the one and only Patron Saint of Cats. This makes cats extra special in that besides St Francis (all animals), they have their own saint just for then.Unfortunately, her association with cats isn't well documented, but why would I pick anyone other than the patron saint of cats when there are really awesome Bishop Cats in Inkulinati.

She is also the real and actual Patron Saint of Travelers. If you're traveling and want to appeal to a saint, stop invoking St Christopher. When someone says he's not real, it's entirely because 1) he's not real and 2) there already is an actual patron saint of travelers that you should appeal to instead of this non-person. During her lifetime, she was know for her hospitality to pilgrims and travelers that stopped at Nivelles Abbey (in Belgium.)

She also gives patronage to gardeners, widows, and poor people as well as protection against mice, rats and pestilence. Her feast day is shared with St Patrick thus is getting drunk and angry at snakes isn't your thing, you can always celebrate cats and their saint. (Btw - St Verdiana is the Patron Saint of Snakes thus she's your saint lady if you like these reptiles.) Dogs also have their own saint, but I don't remember who that is.

Ooh, now you had me interested and I had to look that up.
It's Saint Roche. (Also known as St.Rocco, Rochus, Rok or variations thereof.)
Apart from being the Patron of dogs, he is also invoked and mostly associated with surgery and knee problems. In fact - every art piece of him shows him baring one leg and pointing at the knee with a dog at his side.

Since rabbits are my favourite in Inkulinati - I also had to look this up. =]

There's a Patron Saint for rabbits/hares - and her name is Melangell. For many centuries her association with hares was so strong that locals would not kill a hare in the parish of Pennant Melangell.

While we're on the subject of saints associated with animals, let's not forget St. Blaise who is the one and only Patron Saint of Veterinarians. He had a love of animals that rivaled that of St. Francis and every other animal-loving saint. He is best known for healing the sick, miracles involving healing, and wild animals would come to him to be cured. Unfortunately, he was martyred due to living at a time of persecution.
