Big changes are here.

My Account is the heart of your GOG.com experience. It's the one place that's 100% yours, and the place you always go to download your games and manage the entire library.
Starting today, your My Account is completely new - remade and redesigned from scratch to better support our growing library of games and many of your biggest requests. Aside from every usability fix we could think of, we've also introduced brand new tools to keep your library organised, and new social features to stay in touch with your friends.

The list of new features is long, but you can see the whole thing on our forums. The most important highlights include:

--Support for friends lists and chat.
--Shared wishlists.
--Advanced filtering and custom tags for your library.
--A new, detailed order history.
--Accessible game changelogs.

We're sure that these new changes will greatly improve your overall user experience on GOG.com, and we can't wait to hear what you think on the wishlist and right here in the comments!
God damn that's an ugly redesign:( I'm getting the PTSD flashbacks from when GOG forum became grey...

New account interface is nice and all but how are we supposed to organise our giveaways now? The practical aspect of PM's is somehow lost as it was easy to track past conversations. Seems a bit more akward with the chat interface but if some fellow giveaway'ers can give advise to handle sending 20-30 keys fast & easy.... ;)

I had my first experience with the chat. Yes, it's supposed to be the same as the PMs so it's not exactly a big deal whether I need to press F5 to see the reply or not. BUT. I don't like that pressing enter automatically sends the message. I liked to write big, long messages, and that doesn't translate very well now. Can anything be done about that?

On the other hand, I like that I can check the unredeemed gifts. That's cool. And I set that favorite tag to Deus Ex, so the world is mostly on track.

EDIT: It seems shift + enter goes around the issue a bit, so that's something.

zeffyr: Wow, thanks, GOG :)

Tiny question: previous 'messages' can be found in...?
avatar
Swampland: Good point.

Before the weekend Ciris has messaged me about my honorable mentioning in the Pick-A-Loop contest, all with a redeemable gift-code. I messaged him back to ask whether it was okay for me to click it since I did not get that mention for my first pick, but for a subsequent mention of a song.

That message is now gone.
Sorry GOG, but bringing back archival 'messages' has to be done asap.
What I would like is custom tagging of the games in my library and then filtering on the cloud of custom tags.

For example I use this to mark games as interesting, as already finished, .... and quickly filter for them.

Maybe one could offer a few smartly chosen pre-defined tags but make the whole system extendable for customly defined tags.

Predefined tags could be: OSs, Release-Year, Finished, To Be Played Soon, ...

MasodikTiasma: OCD remarks aside, I don't see where the gifts are stored? Previously you could access all your yet unredeemed gift codes. Maybe it will be added again later, just private messages...

ALH: Under Orders&Settings / Orders History.
Found it, thx. Your reply came while I was updating my post.

@GOG
You know what would greatly improve my user experience? If you did something about the servers strain, so that I stopped getting 'Error 500" pages followed by Theodore before a page actually displayed.
Did you really not expect that everyone would be tinkering around the new account system?

No, it's mixed up with everything else in a big fat pile in that "Orders history" - games you purchased, freebies from GOG, codes from bundles, etc.

You know have to hide everything else by unticking everything that doesn't fall under "Unredeemed Gifts" to see them.

Friends since may 2015 has a weird note to it, don't you agree?

But I'll second what you said. I want my PMs back.

The order sorting is very helpful for them, though. I just realized I still have 3 torchlight keys. And my blocked fallout gifts seem to be gone.

haydenaurion: Found at least one bug. Searching by genre in RPGs doesn't display all of the RPGs in my collection.
Had the same problem. Some games are still on the general list, but don't appear in the sorted lists for their genre.

You can create custom tags under "orders & settings", "tags"

(post edited for spelling) (and again... I wrote "tats")

Sometimes shift+enter makes a paragraph without invoking the enter event. Maybe GOG could make it here too.
In the end, the most comfortable solution is a checkbox in preferences that enables/disables this behavior.

Now that I think of it, that's a bug that happened when browsing games in the store area too.
Ok like the past order history nice. Like the concept of game change logs though haven't spotted it yet on the games I looked at.

I'm not a huge fan of all the drop down menus for each game. Requires more interaction to just even view the options. Would rather have tabs with the heading names and tabs for the OS versions. Will see if it grows on me as I use it. Miss the fact that the title of the game linked to the game page, I could "ctrl+click" in my browser and open a new tab when I wanted to say check out the system specs of a game. Now I have to drill in the menu to get "Store Page & Reviews"

Hmm, leave it with me and I'll get used to it. Always changing things. In my day we had pong and none of those new fangled graphics, hey kids get off the lawn

:)

--Accessible game changelogs.

Really? No more magically trying to guess whats changed when the little "Update" is visible?

It does work. I just edited my post earlier.
