The Suffering: Ties That Bind

The Suffering: Ties That Bind (2005)

by Surreal Software, Midway Games
Genres:Shooter
Themes:Action, Fantasy, Horror, Survival
Game modes:Single player
Story:The Suffering: Ties That Bind follows in the footsteps of its predecessor by combining a disturbing horror atmosphere with action/shooter gameplay. Players can switch between third person and first person depending on their preference, and will shoot a lot of hideous demonic manifestations of evil before the game is done. The player is also able to transform into a hideous creature at key times in the game, which allows him to engage in intense melee combat. The game includes a morality system which records the player's actions during gameplay and changes the story accordingly, and also alters the player's creature form. Everything from the first The Suffering has been refined and turned up a notch for the sequel.Show more

Before The Suffering: Ties That Bind gotten delisted here. An friend let me give this game a try. I previously played The Suffering on PS2 years ago. I knew about the sequel for a long time. I felt parts of it was slightly better than the original. There's a very notable difficulty spikes. A decent horror game with an interesting story. Imagine a more shooter based Silent Hill game. It's not often I play games taking place in my home state. I felt despite the chaos Midway Games going through around it's release. This game turned out as good as it did being a rather huge surprise. You play as Torque that covers more of his past. You can tell they focus more on the shooting than the melee. You still could do melee to a degree. It won't work on some enemies though. I also felt this game is a bit underrated. Not to mention people didn't know about it to the degree they knew about the original. You can only imagine their reactions to finding out there's an sequel. A rather decent sequel that improves several things. Also expect to die a lot in this game. The creature designs are absolutely amazing. I do think there's a chance it could sell somewhat decent on here. More guarantee to be a notable success if Nightdive Studios remastered it.
Look this game holds a special place in my heart and I want to play it again. I hate that we have to somewhat beg for it and I won't but this game is a gem and deserves a comeback. My Step-Dad and I used to play this when it first came out he was gripped by its story which in turn made me love it. I would love to play this with my kids and show them this beautiful game.

I don't know what the hell was David Zaslav, David Haddad and the entire WB people were thinking of delisting this game. You don't need to delist this! This is Midway product that you purchase and bankrupt. You just publish them! Give the IP to THQ Nordic or someone to publish it. Because delisting this old-gem is a bad investment!

Shiryou Sensen: War of the Dead - Part 2
Shiryou Sensen: War of the Dead - Part 2It's set some years after the incident in the first game (where Lila managed to avert a portal into hell consuming the whole world), and terrorists have targeted the industrial city of Sun Dorado. This sequel has undergone radical changes from the original, with all of the RPG trappings stripped out. There's no longer any kind of stats, menu system to navigate, day/night cycle, overworld map, or weapon recovery items. In fact the only items are drugs, which restore health to maximum and only one can be carried at a time, and key items with further the story. The biggest change is the combat: there are no longer any random battles. Taking place on a series of massively sprawling maps, as opposed to shrunken JRPG-style maps which warp you to new maps when entering buildings, all enemies can be seen immediately. Furthermore you never fight more than a single enemy at a time. If there's something hostile in a new area, you can see his health bar at the bottom. In a lot of ways it closely resembles the original Metal Gear, except more sedate and with greater emphasis on NPC dialogue.

Metroid
MetroidMetroid was first released for the Famicom Disk System, exclusively in Japan. Due to the enhanced hardware support, it features a save system, has less slowdown and better quality music. However, when comparing with its International version, it doesn't have the second quest after beating the game, the players can't use Justin Bailey Samus (Zero Suit) and it is much lenient on difficulty and endgame requirements.

The 3rd Birthday
The 3rd BirthdayThe game is an action role-playing game described by Square Enix as a "cinematic action RPG". Director Hajime Tabata noted that the gameplay and plot are intertwined due to a newly introduced ability called "Overdive," an ability that lets the player switch bodies with one of their team members, allowing them to control friendly NPCs. Teammates can be ordered either to target specific enemies or to defend themselves in combat. The player is able change their controlled character in real-time, intermixed with their combat actions. The game is played over-the-shoulder, comparable to games such as Resident Evil 4, Dead Space and the Mass Effect series. An array of different costumes will be available for Aya to choose from throughout the game, but only after they are unlocked by completing the game in various difficulty modes. Clothing in the game deteriorates due to battle damage, revealing Aya's skin to various degrees.
